McCain: Russia deserves better than Putin as president

By United Press International

Russians deserve better than President Vladimir Putin, who doesn't respect human dignity or the authority of the governed, Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., said.

Putin "doesn't believe that human nature at liberty can rise above its weaknesses and build just, peaceful, prosperous societies," McCain wrote in a commentary published by Pravda Thursday. "Or, at least, he doesn't believe Russians can. So he rules by using those weaknesses, by corruption, repression and violence. He rules for himself, not you."

McCain said he isn't "anti-Russian" as he has been portrayed in Russian media.

"I am pro-Russian, more pro-Russian than the regime that misrules you today," McCain wrote. "I make that claim because I respect your dignity and your right to self-determination. I believe you should live according to the dictates of your conscience, not your government."

Putin and his associates don't respect Russians' dignity or the authority Russians have over them, McCain said.

"They punish dissent and imprison opponents. They rig your elections. They control your media. They harass, threaten, and banish organizations that defend your right to self-governance," he said. "To perpetuate their power they foster rampant corruption in your courts and your economy and terrorize and even assassinate journalists who try to expose their corruption."

He said Putin's efforts to restore Russia to greatness at home and abroad haven't worked. At home, he's saddled the country with an economy based "almost entirely" on a few natural resources that won't last -- and which are "mostly in the possession of the corrupt and powerful few."

On the global stage, Putin has aligned Russia "with some of the world's most offensive and threatening tyrannies," including Syrian President Bashar Assad, whose regime is accused of killing tens of thousands of Syrians to remain in power.

Because Russia has blocked the United Nations "from even condemning its [the Assad regime's] atrocities," Putin isn't enhancing Russia's global reputation but is "destroying it," McCain said.

"He has made her a friend to tyrants and an enemy to the oppressed, and untrusted by nations that seek to build a safer, more peaceful and prosperous world," he said.

McCain said he believes in Russians' capacity for self-government and their desire for justice and opportunity.

"When I criticize your government, it is not because I am anti-Russian," McCain said in closing. "It is because I believe you deserve a government that believes in you and answers to you."

Yes we deserve better than Obama, but also better representatives than McCain(flip flopper), and most of the others that don’t stand up to Obama to keep him in line or better yet impeach him.

To me this sounds like a description of the US Government, except of course the journalist remark. America is much worse in many other ways than Russia. Political correctness is expected from American citizens, evolution, which is NOT FACT, is taught as Fact in our schools, schools text books revise, twist, and distort American history. The US government is working with the homosexual community to pass laws which make it illegal to speak out against the pornographic, perverse behavior of sex with someone of the same sex, the liberal media seeks to deliberately misrepresent and demonize Christians in American society, while giving praise to people of Islam, whose followers are responsible for 9/11, and almost daily terrorist attacks all around the world. Our own President claims to be a Christian, but has openly, publicly mocked God’s word and other Christians. In many ways, America is a moral cesspool compared to Russia. McCain has his head in the proverbial sand. WAKE UP!

McCain – who did you and others approve selling arms to? Syria wasn’t it or was it Iran or Iraq? You excused that as being “the other side” – of what? They are all murderous thugs. You can’t justify the actions of yourself, Congress or Obama anymore than you can accuse Putin.

McCain’s article sounds like an autobiography. Meet Mr. Know It All (KIA) who knows more than the voters and ignores them. Mr. KIA, supports non-citizens over the rights of citizens. Putin said Russia is for Russians, I’ve never heard KIA say that about American/Americans. Talk about living in a dream world.

Of course putin and the Russian people really respect the courageous mccain, who, during his so-called campaign, was even afraid to use obama’s middle name for fear of “offending” him…
and who bends over and grabs his ankles at every opportunity to please the very people who (privately) hate him the most…

johnny-boy is sympathetic to the Russian people for having to suffer putin, but is fine with Americans being stomped on by dictatorbama…perhaps the senile old traitor could run for a seat in the kremlin

Arizona definitely deserves a better Senator than McLaim… and his amnesty first train. He complains of rigged elections and Putin ignoring the general public… then he holds a private town hall by invitation only… to discuss immigration… the event was held in a public venue but outside signs clearly declared ‘private meeting by invitation only. Can anyone say HYPOCRITE?

McLaim is a womanizer, with a long history of philandering, he left his crippled wife for a woman 18yrs younger… so much for loyalty and family. He appears to be treating his constituents with the same callus disdain. Mc Laim simply has not room to disparage anyone’s honor or character…he has none.

I’ve got a suspicion that he’ll try to find way and in doing that could lite the fuse that is already in place over Obama care, Debt Ceiling, gun registration and fraudulent voting. Not only should he not be allowed a third term, many in congress deserve a pink slip. We’ll know a lot more about what we can do after November what we and congress (mostly we) can do to stop this train wreck on the horizon.

I disagree with those who say that Arizona deserves better than McCain.

Arizona keeps voting this turkey back into office, again and again and again.

Are Arizona voters aware of who and what McCain is? Yes. Have we heard massive reports of the McCain crowd stealing elections? No. Has McCain sandbagged Arizonans in particular as well as Republicans in general, over and over again? Yes.

I say that it’s the rest of us who deserve better than the fallout from stupid Arizona voters.

allfor1and1forall think the real problem is the choice of who to vote for. Like Obama and McCain, now what kind of choice is that. The same thing happens on the state level, especially when no one runs someone descent against McCain. McCain has millions to spend against anyone who tries to run against him and no one has anyway near that kind on money.

John you have out done yourself this time and in grand fashion. If Russia deserves better than Putin then why in the hell are you not saying that about The US and OBAMA! Say what you will about Putin, but Putin is more , much more than Obama . Putting got guts, experienced, politically savvy, and sits atop an energy empire that is making Russians rich. You may not like Putin John, but the Russian people love him … You do not hear very much thats good about Obama, on the other hand, the average reader of this blog can write essays about Obamas socialism, and being; muslim or muslim a sympathizer, Anti Christian, Anti American, Anti-capitalism , Anti Constitution and Anti traditional American values. Thats just for starters. So John, given your “lock step” love affair with Obama, you nullify your past service to the country as the present outweighs the past … follow thru on your retirement plans John, and do not forget to write that article for PRAVDA … the world is waiting.

While McCain maybe right about Putin he needs to look at Obama and See that America deserves a FAR better leader than that LIE SPEWING MORON Obama. He will also see that we(America)needs a better Congress who does not just let Obama walk all over America and the rights of Americans. Were he to do that he would stop giving Obama whatever he wants and STOP him from DESTROYING America as he is doing now. McCain would be first in Line to vote for Obama and his entire Admin out of Office and into a prison some where very Nasty to make him pay for what he has done to America and Americans. So before McCain goes around telling others how to do their job he needs to start doing his according to the Constitution.
