Nidal Hasan wants jury to know he is forced to wear Army uniform

By United Press International

Maj. Nidal Hasan, charged with the massacre at Fort Hood, Texas, said Tuesday he wants jurors to know he is being "forced" to wear a U.S. Army uniform.

Col. Tara Osborn, the judge at Hasan's court martial, did not rule on his request as jury selection began, the Austin American-Statesman began.

Hasan, a psychiatrist, is acting as his own lawyer. He has said he will be represented by former U.S. Attorney General Ramsey Clark if Osborn allows him to use a defense that he was justified in gunning down soldiers at Fort Hood to prevent unlawful violence to the Taliban in Afghanistan.

During Tuesday's hearing, Hasan said he believes the Army uniform "represents an enemy of Islam."

"I can't take any pride in wearing this uniform," Hasan said. "I want the panel to know that, that I am being forced to wear it."

Hasan, 42, born in Virginia to Palestinian immigrant parents, joined the Army after high school and attended college and medical school while in the military. Relatives said he became more devout after his parents died although a cousin said he did not appear to be anti-American.

In 2009, a month before he was scheduled to be deployed to Afghanistan, Hasan allegedly opened fire on soldiers at Fort Hood, killing 13 and wounding 29.

Clark, who served as President Lyndon Johnson's attorney general from 1967 to 1969, played an important part in drafting the 1965 Voting Rights Act. He has since become known as a radical and has represented many controversial people, including Saddam Hussein and Serbian leader Slobodan Milosevic.

“I can’t take any pride in wearing this uniform,” Hasan said. “I want the panel to know that, that I am being forced to wear it.”

Then this POS should not have voluntarily joined the U.S. military and put on the uniform. He didn’t consider being forced to wear it for the years he was plotting his crime.

I am about tired of watching this thug make a mockery of our military judicial system after massacring our unarmed troops. After given the death penalty, his entire body should be coated with hog lard before he is put to death. It’s time that the U.S. stopped trying to appease these Islamist fanatics.

I agree, and to think this b┬žstage is still collecting his full U.S. Army pay as a major is downright sickening too!

It’s likely US taxpayers paid for his medical school.

He can resign his commission any time he wants. What that does for any remaining obligation he may have due to his schooling is unknown. If he doesn’t fulfill his military service obligation (which he is technically doing right now) he might have to pay back his medical school tuition.

But no one is “forcing” him to be an officer in the US military. He can resign, and stop collecting paychecks, any time he wants.

He shames the uniform, the military, and the country he swore to protect. If he doesn’t want to wear it, he shouldn’t have to — actually, he shouldn’t be allowed to; it’s an insult to all those who serve(d) honorably for him to wear the uniform.

He is also being ‘forced’ to cash his US Army paychecks. The sooner he goes before a firing squad, the sooner this mockery comes to a just conclusion. Justice delayed is Justice denied.

He should be forced to be clean shaven!
He is STILL an active duty member of the military, (unfortunately), so he is obliged to wear the uniform!
This Son-of-a-Pig used the military AND MY COUNTRY to pay for his education, promotions, generous income, housing, clothing, etc., etc., etc.
I also hate the word alleged being used as if no one is sure that HE is the criminal!
Forget the “show-trial” and hang, shoot, electrocute or dismember this TERRORIST ******* right damn now! Scatter his body parts in a pig feed lot and let the hogs do the cleanup work!……THEN,….start on the next slime-ball mus-slime on the list! God Bless America! God Bless our troops, and, America, Bless God Again! (Thanks Wild Bill).

There are some words I would like to use in response to ‘not very sensitive’. but the moderator would not allow them, and my dear departed mother would be upset at the use of them.

Thanks to the Commander in Chief, this whole farce of ‘workplace violence’ has gone on far too long, and there is nothing to joke about.
