Arkansas Lt. Gov. Mark Darr, describing himself as an enthusiastic backer of gun rights, has signed a concealed-carry law.
Darr, a Republican, was standing in as acting governor Friday for the state's Democratic governor, Mike Beebe, who had said he would let the bill become law without signing it, KHOZ-AM, Harrison, reported.
"Having been an outspoken advocate for Second Amendment rights, I felt passionately that there should be no delays in signing this bill into law," Darr said. "Within the bill is an emergency clause which states that once this bill is signed the state of Arkansas can no longer publicly release records concerning persons licensed to carry a concealed handgun or those applying for such a license. The release of such records is an invasion of privacy and threatens the safety and property of the persons identified."
Gun shops that offer concealed-carry classes in Arkansas say they have waiting lists, KARK-TV, Little Rock, reported. Don Hill, owner of Don's Weaponry in North Little Rock, said he offers a class every two weeks and they always fill up quickly.
The classes include 5-6 hours in the classroom plus time on the gun range. Hill said more women have been signing up for the class.

Now they need a bill which prevents that bill from ever being revoked, apart from all other documents, so that guns will never be up on the chopping block again. It should also be a requirement that all adults and children, whether they can read or not, are told about the laws. And that they are to pass that knowledge on to their future generations.

I applaud Lt. Gov. Mark Darr, and governor, Mike Beebe.
Mr Darr stood bravely against the evil forces that creep around to steal the freedom of beloved Americans.
I applaud Mr Beebe for putting aside his personal convictions and permitting the force of the Constitution to prevail.
The Governor and Lt. Governor, prove that we can disagree, without being disagreeable, and still be true to our-self and to the Bill of Rights (they’re known as ‘The Bill of Rights, for a reason).
Thank you both.

No reason to appluad Governor Beebe. Upon his return to the state, the media reported he was unhappy with the Lt. Governor’s signing of this bill.

Good job Arkansas. As your neighbor to the west ( Oklahoma ) it’s nice to have a strong pro-gun state on our border…

Another spineless politician trying desperately to enhance his re-election chances… Mike Beebe
