Christie: NRA ad on Obama daughters 'reprehensible'

By AP Staff

TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says it is "reprehensible" for the National Rifle Association to run an ad bringing President Barack Obama's daughters into the gun-control debate.

The nationally prominent governor on Thursday criticized the ad, which accused the president of being a hypocrite for allowing his daughters to be protected by armed Secret Service agents but not embracing armed guards for schools.

Christie said children of public figures should be off-limits to political attacks.

The Republican governor also sided with the Democratic president when Obama came to New Jersey to tour storm damage in October. Christie's praise of the president six days before the election was sharply criticized by some GOP members, who accused Christie of helping to tip a close election to Obama.

Christie is a big, fat suck-up to Obama for economic favors.
Its OK for Obama to use children to make his case, but the NRA is not allowed to do the same. If its good for one, its good for all. The NRA has a great argument, and it should not be marginalized by this RHINO posing as a conservative.
Its so true, guns are OK for the gun controllers, but not for you and your children. What a bunch of hypocrites!
This is not about gun control, its about gun confiscation so that we will not be able to defend ourselves against government tyranny.

Where was Christies big mouth when the press was always putting the Bush kids in the news? I guess Mr.Christie its alright for Obama to surround himself with kids to threaten anybody who disagree with him,but nobody should even state that what is good security for his kids would be good for our kids. This man should not be allowed to leave the GOP on his own , he should be kicked out!

The behavior of Christie in these recent incidents (the storm and his embrace of Obama, and now this statement with regard to the NRA) has turned me off on him as a potential candidate for President looking ahead. He still does not get it with regard to the Obama administration and how they are undermining our country. I thought he may be the leader we need to play hardball with these radical liberals but I guess I was wrong as his true colors are being exposed, or at a minimum his naivety.

President Obama is committed to taking this country down and will say or do whatever necessary to make it happen no matter how “nice” he publicly talks as he has become a master of minipulation. He used Christie to help turn the election in his favor with his photo op on the beach. Brilliant for Obama, dumb for Christie. Christie is rookie compared to Obama when it comes to politics and ho to con the American public.

We really need a true American that has the horsepower in terms of political savvy and ability to communicate to the public to get put there and take on Obama and his radical minions. The arguments and back up facts are on the side of the conservatives in this country, but it is not being presented to the public in a way they can understand and embrace it. It is a sad state of affairs.

Does anyone wonder if these RINOs are the result of the Democrat party becoming more and more liberal? Democrats who aren’t liberal enough don’t get party support. As a result, we get all these somewhat moderate Democrats in our party. They vote with the Democrats most of the time, but attempt to get elected in more conservative areas by putting an (R) behind their name. We need to get rid of them before any more of them worm their way into the leadership of the Republican party.

I agree. When you go the ballet box and see the (R) you don’t really know what that means anymore. You vote (R) and hope for the best and look at the mess we’re in.

Too many (R)’s are bought off.

What is the voter supposed to do?

You can now look for Christie to go Democrat any time now and definitely in his next Election. Christie has been buttering up to Obama every chance he gets, an especially since the Sandy Storm. He may also be looking for an Obama White House Cabinet position. Has he been kissing Obama’s rear end, well not on Camera?? His nose does look like it’s changing color, but my vision is poor anyway, I never could see what people saw in him anyway. Thank you for your time., TSgt., USAF Retired

this morbidly obese jerk should worry about shedding the 100 extra pounds of fat he carries around, before he has a massive heart attack that will cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars for his hospital care and naturally his SECURITY DETAIL that he surrounds himself with! While he is at it, perhaps he should do his JOB which is Gov. of NJ, not nanny to the USA! He is almost as bad a Nanny Bloomberg and they are essentially the same on the viewpoints!

I guess Christie fails too see the hypocrisy of the Obama’s daughters school basically being secured by the Secrete Service, but to secure any other school would just be nuts. Further how quickly people forget it was one of the Obama daughters with 12 friends and a Secret Service protection detail in Mexico for ‘Spring Break’ while the rest of America is warned not to travel to Mexico, and the Administration places signs along our border warning us to ‘not interfere with the invading illegals (or we will be charged with ‘unlawful detention or imprisonment’), and to stay clear of the border, because it is such a dangerous place, thanks to his stopping of the building of the fence and not SECURING our SOVEREIGN BORDER! Obama is the quintessential example of hypocrisy, and Christie is rapidly getting on the same track as Obama!

Okay, I know everyone is very unhappy with Christie at the moment, but I think we need to take his comments with a grain of salt here . . . I think he was giving his viewpoint as a father, and while I don’t agree with what he was saying, I do understand his basis for saying this. But more importantly, I also believe in freedom of speech, even within our own party. I don’t think it’s right that we simply throw fellow conservatives out the door just because we may disagree on certain things from time to time. Can’t we be known as a party who is not afraid of open discussion? Right now the Republican party is so unbelievably divided. Can’t we talk about our differences without simply writing each other off? Seriously, if you were in a marriage and you threw your spouse out the door the first time you disagreed on something, that marriage would probably last about ten minutes.

If he or anyone else does not properly represent the will of the people who voted him in they need to vote his fat @@@ out.

All this pandering and mollycoddling is making me sick. If it’s ok for Obama to parade out children to push a socialist agenda it’s ok for ANYONE else to point out he himself approves of his own children going to a school that is well protected with armed guards. Why is it ok for him but not the rest of us?

Suspect this is true, however, I do not feel a compulsion to protect his children or anyone else’s when they think to make mine fair game.

It is a bit of a double standard, coupled with the hypocrisy and is really nothing more than using children as a shield by them

So it is really a question of whether Christie finds it reprehensible for ONLY Obama’s children to be safe

Shafawn and Jota . . . I think you’re missing my point. It seems like the Republican party discards candidates with amazing speed. One day they’ll “all good” and then a week later, “they’re all bad and out the door.” We aren’t going to find a perfect candidate. There’s no such thing. We’ve got to quit kicking out candidates for simple things. We saw it in the last Presidential election, and guess what — we lost! Look what we ended up with. We’ve got to focus on the big picture here and band together. I don’t agree with what Christie said either, but I don’t think that makes him an entirely bad candidate and I don’t think he should be shown to the curb for this.

Well the NRA ad was not picking on anyone’s children. It stated a simple that Obama was fine with having his girls protected by people with guns, but wants kids in public schools to be a gun free zone. Governor Christy also has his kids in a private school and I would bet they have armed guards there also. The only thing that gun free zones do is to tell a criminal where he can go and do as he/she wants.
I use to admire Governor Christy, but the more he opens his mouth the less I think of him. He seems to have gone toward the left way too much for me.

What is reprehensible is Obama,Pelosi,Brady,Joke Biden and the rest of the Gun Control Anti American Nuts using the tradegy of children being killed to further their anti gun agenda. Furthermore Obama’s Daughters are no more important than my children. I wish I could follow every step of my children while carrying my handgun. I also would like to see armed security at the school where my children are. If Obama’s Daughters rate having armed security with them every step. my children rate having their armed father with them. This is not about the safety of children it is about OBAMA having total control of the people which he doesn’t and can’t have as long as the people have guns. This Obese slob needs to go on the moochele diet and lose some of the fat between his ears. Our children should be left to the butchers, however. And we damn well better not even MENTION the special treatment that the children of the Ruling Elite receive, at our expense.

How, exactly, does the debate proceed if certain relevant players get to keep their personal decisions for guns, schools and children out of it, while all the rest of us, whom are 100% at the mercy of those relevant players, making the decision, for our guns, our schools and our children, are prevented from pointing out the hypocrisy?

Please, I am all ears, tell me how it is done

Trample on our rights then try to shame us into silence when it pointed out the decisions made for their life are different than the one they think the rest of us have to live with.

I knew he was bad news when, at the Republican convention, he came out and said “we’re all going to have to make sacrifices”. He was the first Republican I’d heard in a long time pulling that ****. They steal our money at gunpoint, skim whatever they can off the top to enrich themselves, buy votes with as much as they can get away with and then use what’s left over for its intended purpose. My first thought when he said “sacrifice” was to put an apple in his mouth, put him on a spit and cook him at the foot of the Washington Monument on the night of the next full moon. Could even cut up one of his, obviously hand tailored, suits to make a party tent over the whole shebang. Doesn’t look like he’s sacrificed any calories, does it? It wouldn’t be nearly enough, but it would be a good start.

Careful when throwing stones in glass houses, makes your argument less credible.

Regarding CC, if you liked his fervor years ago, then you should applaud his same fervor now. If Dems and Repubs BOTH like his fervor, then we just may have a candidate that the COUNTRY can get behind. Be proud that he is a Republican if he wins. If he changes parties, then you should be scared. “Why is it any different than Pres. Bush having press conferences and speeches with kids” – kcanales

Press conferences and speeches with kids are not a problem for any president.

However, if Bush had issued 23 executive orders to restrict abortions with children on stage who had wrote him why he needed to act, he would have been as guilty as Obama of exploiting children for his political purpose.

“If he changes parties, then you should be scared. It means reasonable, rational, logical people are running away from a party that is too far down the rabbit hole run by crazies and no one wants to be associated with it.”

Only in the mind of a liberal would such a statement make any sense

If the other party was “reasonable, rational, logical” to begin with, it begs the question of why, if he was such, he was not with them in the first place.

Since he is not and you say he is “reasonable, rational, logical” it would require his losing his mind to join them now

As for “a party that is too far down the rabbit hole run by crazies and no one wants to be associated with it”

We need look no further than the Democratic party, filled with crazies, whose vote can be bought for a bribe, to show it is not true

      Reagan: 381
      Poppy Bush: 166
      W: 291
      BO: 144 and counting.

I keep asking myself, why do people want to be associated with a party that is this crazy, ignorant, heartless, selfish, greedy, paranoid, and incompetent, just to name a few.

Let me see your list of ‘crazy’ Democratic congresspeople. I bet my list of Republican members are much longer. Although, it really does depend on your definition of Crazy.

Oh, That’s right, we voted for BO b/c we are going to get ‘gifts’. Have you ever talked with a democrat and asked why we vote democratic? It’s not about gifts to ourselves. It’s about not being selfish or greedy, it’s about looking out for the least among us. You know, the teachings of Jesus Christ. We want to make sure that Grandparents aren’t eating cat-food from a dumpster, that people born with disabilities are taken care of, that our military families are taken care of, that people shouldn’t go bankrupt if something happens medically to them (car accident, disease, broken limb, etc.), etc. But if it makes you feel better, yes, people do take advantage and defraud the government systems. There is this one person who defrauded Medicare out of $1.7 Billion dollars and he got to become the Governor of Florida.
I would say have a nice weekend, but you’re a Republican, so it is probably more appropriate to say, Have an angry, frustrated, spiteful weekend.

      Here is the list

And…Mr.C….is it alright for your new BFF Ombama/Davis to stand on the graves of those poor innocents and use other innocents to further HIS cause. “That” is reprehensible. He knows he can’t just toss out the second amendment..so, as is his usual course of action….he will USE whatever and whomever available to push his agenda. “THAT” is reprehensible. And you are getting close yourself.

“which accused the president of being a hypocrite for allowing his daughters to be protected by armed Secret Service agents”

Bull. The ad was refencing the fact that Sidwell Friends School has 11 armed guards in addition to the Secret Service protection.

Who cares what Christi thinks. He’s pals w/the President now. At least he is trying to be. Just another politician shooting off his mouth before he thinks. Sick of it.
