Maybe we need to start from scratch, back to the drawing board. Our two party system is evil, I've read a lot about how evil the left is, and I myself support the right, but what of the evils of the Right? Why is it we only define the Left and the Right as Democrat or Republican? Neither of these groups are well-minded or whole hearted. I hate to say it, but maybe we need to expand our party system, otherwise we'll be stuck in a loop; a loop of "What you want to hear" men holding power of a once great and budding nation. Have our minds become so dulled and chipped with everything happening in the late 20th and 21st centuries, so much that we have lost track of what we NEED; When we feel entitled to take, take, take from our beautiful nation and give nothing in return. That the only way to stop violence is to hinder protection. Why have we allowed our future generations to be wrapped in this blanket that provides a false reality to them, that everything will be fine if you take no initiative, that everything is fine. This state we are slowly becoming is not fine, it's warped, it's disgusting, it's painful. When did we stop giving all to protect the core fundamentals of our country? Why do we allow the protest of dead heroes? Why do we allow people to come to our country both legally and illegally and change OUR lifestyles to fit theirs? Why does our tax system only look at numbers? There are so many problems, and even more questions that can be answered, bluntly, by "Because of "Yes-men" leading us along".
Again, we have rights that were EARNED, not protested for, not begged for, why let them slip away so easily. Why do we sit back and wait for the worst? We need to take initiative and change this, through conflict or words, as long as we stop this spiral while we can.
Is it not the duty of every soldier, every citizen, every capable person who lays their heads on these lands to defend it from all threats both foreign and domestic?

KSKidd you put the hammer square on the nails head ... that's one of the reasons it's gotten this far. These liberals are anything but dumb .. at least the puppet masters. Most of their foot soldiers out here are illiterate fools ... but the DC liberals are intellectually elite albeit evil to the core ... Guys like Schumer and Waxman, they remind me of little wimps who were pushed around in school and then made hall monitors, then once saftly behind the teachers skirt take great satisfaction at forcing everyone else to live by their rules .... those two stand the hair up on the back of my neck like fingernails om a chalkboard when I listen to them ... what kind of idiot would have voted for either one of them.

@blakehar i might direct you to the 2008 SCOTUS ruling on DC vs Keller. the SCOTUS clearly identify the militia as 'all males able to contribute to the common defense"... supreme court of the united states... 2008

while you're there, why don't you go ahead and clear up another misconception you're bound to have. read the part about the type of weapons that the SCOTUS, in 2008, decided are to be available to the militia. "in ordinary use at the time", which means modern military weapons.

i'm not going to argue the "all firearms should be legal" part of that statement... i happen to agree. the SCOTUS says different, while i don't necessarily agree, the verbiage in the federalist papers and the 1939 united states vs miller ruling held that the right to bear arms to not apply to any and all arms, but only those that might be used by the militia or standing federal army. miller lost this case, having been charged after the 1934 national firearms act with possession of a sawed off shotgun. the court found (wrongly it soon admitted) that miller's ownership and possession of a double barrel sawed off shotgun was not protected by the 2nd amendment, in that shotguns "weren't in military use by the federal army".. for a reason i have yet to investigate, miller's lawyer wasn't in court that day, or he could have rightly argued that the shotgun was indeed in used in the federal army. as a result, his sawed off shotgun should have been a protected weapon under the 2nd amendment. the panel later acknowledged this, but because the ruling have been delivered, the case could not be reopened and miller's conviction stood.

now, being an NFA item does not mean it's banned. it means it's more heavily regulated and you have to go through a lengthy identification process and pay a tax to own one. that means any pre-ban full-auto weapon can be bought (civilian manufacture of full auto firearms was banned in 1964) owned and used as a primary weapon. same with barrel length and sound suppressors. these 3 things make up the list of NFA small arms restrictions currently in place. even the 1994 assault weapons ban wasn't a ban on actual types of rifles as much as it was on features... feinstein's to blame for that one too.. confiscation is her stated goal. total, 100% confiscation of all civilian owned firearms..

You are right, of course. One of the major purposes of government is to restrict liberty. Think for a second, every law passed, EVERY law passed, is in some way a restriction on liberty. I'm not saying laws are not good, but they always put a damper on a person's want to do something. In many cases they are for the benefit of people and society. Speed limits as an example. The purpose is to keep people from going past the adhesion limits of the vehicle and the road, thereby killing themselves and others, but they are a restriction on how fast you can drive.

As long as government is in existance it will continue to pass laws, and each law will be another restriction on some kind of liberty. Eventually, if this process continues there will be a total restriction on everything. That's the reason the Constitution was put into place, to put a stop to government control. We have allowed, over the years, for the government to take more and more control over the people. I think that Jefferson knew this would happen and why he said the time may come when the people will have to take back the government. This will happen a lot sooner than most people think, and Hussein Obama is speeding the process along. In the Book of Judges the Hebrew people told God they wanted a king. God told them, in a sense, be careful what you ask for you may just get it.

A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed

militia-commonly used today to refer to a military force composed of ordinary citizens[2] to provide defense, emergency law enforcement, or paramilitary service, in times of emergency without being paid a regular salary or committed to a fixed term of service.

Blakehar, So what you are telling me and our friend at the top here is that we are neither "ordinary citizens" or "people"? according to this the 2nd amendment applies to everyone.

blakehar .... Please consider that all schools in America are 'gun free zones' then review the following web page and come back and explain how "..restricting and banning guns keeps kids safer."

http://www.infoplease.com/ipa/A0777958.html

Perhaps you can also explain how none of the shooters was in violation of already existing law.

Restricting guns does not keep any one safe. It only makes targets of innocent people and disables any attempt to protect them. It would seem that the "gun free zoning" of our public schools has had the effect of allowing people who do not respect or honor gun laws to kill indiscriminately, kind of like shooting fish in a barrel. You may not like that analogy, so I'll give you another one: Taking guns from honest, responsible people is akin to tying up the shepherd so the wolves can have free run of the sheep. I don't mean to be to personal, but it seems to me that any one capable of figuring out a dropped hammer will hit the floor ought to be able to figure these things out.
