Rep. Allen West concedes after Fla. recount fight

By Matt Sedensky

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Tea party firebrand Rep. Allen West conceded his re-election fight Tuesday, two weeks after the election gave way to court appearances, two partial recounts and unending accusations by his camp that the vote count wasn't fair.

In a statement, the Republican freshman said "there are certainly still inaccuracies in the results" but not enough to change the outcome, giving the race to Democratic newcomer Patrick Murphy.

"While a contest of the election results might have changed the vote totals, we do not have evidence that the outcome would change," West said.

Murphy campaign manager Anthony Kusich said he was not aware of any concession call to his candidate, simply an e-mail that was publicly distributed. In his own statement, Murphy said he was "humbled by Congressman West's gracious concession" and eager to get to work on behalf of all voters.

"To those who supported my opponent, my door is open and I want to hear your voice," Murphy said. "I campaigned on a message of reaching across the aisle to get things done for the people of the Treasure Coast and Palm Beaches, and that is as important in this district as it is in Washington."

Murphy declared victory in the wee hours of Election Night and has held his lead ever since, even as thousands of absentee, provisional and overseas ballots were processed and two partial recounts undertaken. But West's campaign kept up a stream of skepticism about the results, largely focused on St. Lucie County, where elections officials acknowledged missteps.

An initial recount of some early ballots in St. Lucie gave West a slight bump. His campaign fought for a fuller recount, and received it, but it only improved Murphy's margin of victory. He won by more than 2,000 votes.

Many have speculated West could find a new career in the place where he has been frequently seen, on cable television, but he has not said what his next step will be. "Only God knows what is in store for each of us," he said in his statement, adding that "I will continue to fight for our republic."

Whatever the next step, the contest between Murphy and West will go down as one of the most expensive in congressional history. Murphy eked out the win though he was out-fundraised more than four-to-one.

West, 51, is a favorite among the most conservative reaches of the Republican Party. He has made a string of headline-grabbing statements, from calling a majority of congressional Democrats communists to saying President Barack Obama, Rep. Nancy Pelosi and others should "get the hell out of the United States."

Murphy, 29, portrayed West as an extremist who had done little else in Washington than stoke partisan fires.

In his concession statement, West offered congratulations to Murphy, saying "I pray he will serve his constituents with honor and integrity, and put the interests of our nation before his own."

Allen West is an honorable man. He is one of us and was cheated out of his seat. I would rather have West representing Republicans than that Rhino Bobby Jindal. West did not attack Gov. Romney like Jindal did recently. Jindal is not one of us.

Capricorn you are full of maze because some of us worked our tush off and you obviously know little about the demographics of SE Florida to mouth off the way you have.

When “RHINO Inquisitors” say other Republican are not “one of us” that’s the real formula for a lost cause and a retreat from the battle field.

Here’s an interesting article on how Obama could still be defeated, but it will take a lot of hard work and pressure on the red states:

“Rep. Allen West conceded his re-election fight Tuesday, two weeks after the election gave way to court appearances, two partial recounts and unending accusations by his camp that the vote count wasn’t fair.”

I live in Florida Congressional District 18. I was at what was supposed to be Allen West’s victory party. When I left Rep. West was ahead by about 1800 votes. St Lucie County Election Supervisor Gertrude Walker decided for some reason to order a recount of the early balloting. That recount put Patrick Murphy ahead by about 2500 votes. Supervisor Walker at first ordered a recount of all of the early ballots again, changed her mind and had only the last 2 days recounted. Supervisor Walker was refusing to recount the other ballots, when it was demonstrated that the partial recount results were different from the first recount results. After pressure from Florida’s Secretary of State, she agreed to recount all of the early ballots and had a deadline of noon Sunday, 11/18/2012. The deadline was missed because the machines that count the ballots “malfunctioned”. That as they say was that. The state does not have the authority to force the Elections Supervisor to do another recount since the position is an elected one.

Hopefully the State Attorney will investigate Ms. Walker and her office thoroughly, to make sure that the machines truly malfunctioned. Sadly no matter what happens, it won’t changed the results as they now stand.

There will be a reckoning. Those responsible for allowing this fraudulent election will be brought to task for their involvement. It will not be pretty. Lists are being made of judges and workers involved.

I gave this article a 10 because it was well written. It would have been very hard for me to write as objective an article on this subject. The reason Obama was so cool, calm, and collected during the election process was because he knew it was all a done deal. The reason he did so poorly during the first debate is because he didn’t prepare for it because he knew the election was a done deal. The reason he was able to so quickly leave for a campaign event in Las Vegas while all hell was breaking loose in Benghazi is because he knew it really didn’t matter what the voter’s thought because his re-election was a done deal. With Holder and the others in place…absolute power corrupts absolutely.

So—-what are we going to do about so many rigged elections? With the advent of the computerized everything, there can be no unhacked elections. There is info abounding regarding the hacking. I know of it personally. Its even on film. No one is doing anything about it. This has been true for some years now. We lose all the real statesmen who occupy or run for office because of the evil powerbrokers. Romney could have fixed our economy. The very people who voted him out will be the ones who suffer the most because they did. We will all suffer with them, just not so much.

Allen West lost his re-election but an idiot like Alan Grayson was re-elected…just goes to show how screwed up the country has become. Mitt Romney should have been elected President going away with the dismal performance of the Obama administration and his failure to really solve any of our major problems in four years.

The American people are seeing the desired “transformation” of America by the radical leftist extremists happen right in front of our eyes as the country has reached the critical “tipping point” where those of us that worked hard all of our lives are being put upon to support those that refuse to put in the time and energy to provide for themselves. Mitt Romney was so right in his comments about the 47% who will vote for Democrats no matter who runs against them and no matter how incompetent they are, just as long as they continue to get their “freebies”.

It is a sad state of affairs when a national hero like Allen West cannot retain his job in the House because he is an outspoken critic of the Obama administration and it policies.

The voters in Florida are self serving and “doped up” and are allowing this to happen, but they are not the only ones that have fallen right in line and have been “conned” into believing that the Democrats have their best interests and the best interests of the country at large as their top priority.

This is a socialist take over of our country and the beginning of the end of the America we grew up in and who has been the leader of the world for a hundred years.

I hope those of you that voted for Obama and others in the Democratic party live long enough to reap the results of your decisions, because you are going to regret it.

You are entirely entitled to your opinion, just as every American citizen is supposed to be entitled to vote. Be careful about what you “wish” for, though, because that right to vote is being stolen and your right to your own “opinion” may disappear next.

Allen West needs to keep speaking on a National level.
He speaks the truth and the sorry Politically Correct brainwashed masses cannot handle it. Be it known Col. West you are a Hero for speaking the truth when knowing the wrath of the Communists will be upon you. My father warned me of their malicious reprisals of lies and half truths coupled with ridicule in attempts to discredit anyone who investigates or exposes their intended Agenda for a USSA.
I was there, in on the planning of this communist takeover and that Community Organization workshop was 44 years ago. They have since worked diligently spreading their doctrine in almost all facets of American life corrupting all values dear to us.

If we are outspoken like Alan West we will be attacked for trying to tell the truth. Mr. West will be in my prayers and hope that there will be more like him to be brave enough to take a stand and stick to it. God told Joshua, “Be strong and pf a good courage;” in The Book of Joshua chapter 1 and verses 6 and 9. Now this is my prayer for Alan West. God will win the battle for him and for us.

Boehner and the rest of the Republicans left West hanging out to dry. Virtually no support whatsoever from them while the Dems were firing everything they had at him, including Obama’s own support team.

The RINO Marco Rubio was conspicuously silent about it.

We need to replace Boehner as Speaker of the House with a man like West with the cojones to stand up to Obama.

I recently was saddened to learn that Rand Paul has revealed himself as a RINO as well, adding his support along with Boehner’s and other RINOs for amnesty for illegals.

Anyone with an IQ above that of a turnip realizes that giving amnesty will only serve to attract millions more of the illegals.

Further, anyone who puts the interests of foreign nationals here illegally ahead of America’s best interests is a TRAITOR to America. No way to sugarcoat it or rationalize it.

P.S. The only one in Congress who had the cojones to speak up for America when the Mexican president dissed it was Tom McClintock. I’d like to see McClintock replace Boehner before I would Ryan or anyone else. Please see:

Mr. West, I applaud your efforts and hope you will stay in the political arena. I was devastated by the election results and fear for our country. Seeing you stand up against the manipulation and deceit gave me hope. There is only so much one man can do, but if that one man keeps standing up, there is hope for the rest of us.
