CIA denies it detained militants in Benghazi

By AP Staff

WASHINGTON (AP) — The CIA is denying an assertion made by David Petraeus' biographer and girlfriend that the agency held militants in Libya before the Sept. 11 attack.

During a talk last month at the University of Denver, author Paula Broadwell said the CIA had detained people at a secret facility in Benghazi, and the attack on the U.S. Consulate there was an effort to free those prisoners.

President Barack Obama issued an executive order in January 2009 stripping the CIA of its authority to take prisoners. The move means the CIA can no longer operate secret jails across the globe as it had done under the administration of President George W. Bush.

CIA spokesman Preston Golson said "any suggestion that the agency is still in the detention business is uninformed and baseless."

“CIA had detained people at a secret facility in Benghazi”

There are three claims of fact

    Who did it? CIA

    What was done? detained people

Where were they held? a secret facility in Benghazi

Only one of them was denied, who did it

Which means everyone can be telling the truth and only in error on the who.

Cut the bull and smoke’n'mirrors. Another diversion by this inept to administration to spin the truth. What really is the heart of the matter? Go after the folks who make the decisions of what actions to take when an embassy is being terrorized. Makes me sick. I find it very hard to believe that the country voted for this clown to be in office. I guess we do get the government we deserve.

    As to the question

“Why do you think this woman had this classified information?”

Why would she think she could blab?

Oh that is right she makes poor judgments

And obviously so does Petraeus by telling her

Now we know why he resigned

And we also know the CIA is now in violation of an executive order

So why did Obama need 24 hours to think it over?

My question is what kind of an administration is tolerating a division where no one seems to know or is telling the truth about anything that’s going on?

Do you really wonder that or is this sarcasm like I think it is? This administration would lie about anything and everything.

We don’t even know who is telling the truth these days. The print and electronic media sure aren’t. There are so many questions about all of this.

If the affair was known since July, why are we hearing about it a week before the congressional hearing. Why not before the election. If Petreaus resignation was done on Monday before the election, why tell us after??? If the drone was attacked near Iran on Nov 1st, why did we hear about it after the election??

As for Bengazi, why weren’t all the middle eastern embassies protected by American troops regardless of whether they asked for it or not on 9/11? If Obama is commander in chief, then why and when is he going to be held accountable for his actions?

During the exposure of the Benghazi story, a detailed version of the whole attack was told. In that depiction it was said that the people at the Annex did have two or three of their attackers in custody when they were finally relieved by the team from the airport.
Those attackers, it was reported, were turned over to the Libyans.

Whether they were captured at the Annex, or taken during the rescue of people at the ‘consulate’ complex, was never made clear.

If they HAD been taken at the consulate location, a rescue of those jihadists MAY have been the goal of the attack on the Annex.

“Cherchez la femme.” Translated, means “you can’t trust women.” The evidence is the examples of Monica Lewinsky and Paula Broadwell. Apparently Marilyn Monroe WAS trustworthy.

Or Marilyn died before she could cause a scandal. What is wrong with these West Point and Annapolis Women? First we had an navy captain astronaut who drove cross country to confront a married lover and now we have a married Lt. Col. who thinks her married lover should never leave her bed? Both these women seemed to have become unstable in their 40s and that doesn’t speak well for those who vetted them for top secret clearances. Petraus let himself get seduced, but by his age he should have been able to realize sex in the workplace puts all the cards in the hands of any woman who uses sex as a career advancement tool.

If the goal of the attackers was to rescue prisoners, don’t you think that would have been mentioned long ago by the rebels?

Because they would have been on Jay Leno or The View right after Obama made an appearance to tell their side of the story?

Have no idea how you think we would have heard what they said

What a tangled web we weave when we practice to deceive… Benghazi compound and/or annex seems to be the place(s) that were attacked so were prisoners held there? The Ambassador was not in his proper consulate but a Benghazi compound for arranging whatever. Ms. B is in over her head, me thinks. Whatever she says will be denied and not accepted as the truth. Benghazi is much “bigger” than what Americans ever thought. Let’s see how those in charge dig their way out of this one. So far, it appears that witnesses have been warned, and that’s a step in illegal procedure. Military have had gag order and others fired or dismissed and one Ali Opp hidden until after the election…now the Sireeenie and her story after the General’s “supposedly” misconduct was brought to everyone’s attention…after the election. Hmm. Why everything AFTER the election? I’m not the brightest light bulb but I see the writing on the wall.

It is absurd when Iranian government news becomes more reliable than our MSM on the Benghazi scandal.
