Allen West demands ballots, voting machines be impounded

By Matt Sedensky

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. (AP) - Republican Rep. Allen West took the first steps in a legal challenge Wednesday in his closely watched re-election bid even as Democratic opponent Patrick Murphydeclared a razor-thin victory.

West, the south Florida Republican who has made headlines nationally for his fiery tea party rhetoric, filed motions asking a judge to require elections officials to impound ballots and voting machines. Separately, his campaign alleged "disturbing irregularities" at the polls and called for a recount.

The conservative congressman refused to concede, but Murphy seized on the projections of several news organizations, declaring himself the victor after a long and often vicious campaign. It was unclear what effect West's actions could have on Murphy's 2,456-vote lead in the unofficial count, but the Republican's hopes appeared to be fading.

"You can always file a lawsuit," said constitutional lawyer Bob Jarvis of Nova Southeastern University, "but I don't see that as a viable option."

Murphy had 50.4 percent of the vote, giving him a margin of about three-quarters of a percentage point. That is above the threshold for a recount under state law. All precincts had reported their tallies, but West held out hope for a surge of support from provisional and other outstanding ballots. That looked increasingly unlikely.

Still, West showed no signs of backing down two years after he came into office on the 2010 GOP wave. He did not appear at his election night party, but his campaign manager, Tim Edson, issued a statement urging patience.

"This race is far from decided and there is no rush to declare an outcome," Edson said. "Ensuring a fair and accurate counting of all ballots is of the utmost importance."

West, 51, elevated his profile with a seemingly unending string of headline-grabbing statements, from charging that scores of congressional Democrats are communists to labeling Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, D-Fla., as "vile" and "despicable," and saying President Barack Obama, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi and others should "get the hell out of the United States." West also likened Democratic "propaganda" to that of the Nazis.

Was Florida one of the 26? The Spanish online voting company SCYTL, owned by an Obama supporter with ties to George Soros, was awarded the bid to count the votes from 26 states. Look it up on

Whit: If you checked the register of Socialist Democrats, you would find what Allen West said is true about the Black Caucus and Nancy Pelosi, Henry Waxman and Barney Frank are also on that list.
Debbie Wasserman-Schultz was grilled by CNN about what she reported as truth was in fact a bald faced lie and they showed a video of her comments. She continued to deny she said this.
What surprised me is that CNN called her out since they have a record of skewing the news.

West lost the office, If he wants a recount thats ok, but what isn’t acceptable is calling others names. Now is the time for all to put politics behind us and start working together as Americans for our country. No name calling work on the economy, energy. environment, respect each other. Keep going after terrorist . Bring our boys and girls home. If house and senate work with the President and remember the other 47 per cent pay taxes also.Work on the debt also, keeping in mine that the government owe’s Social Security money, they took from it over the years from WW2 to now for pet projects for their states , No one was suppose to take money from the Social Security. Watch what is being paid by the government for things the military needs. Example is the paying of 50.00 for toilet seats for ships after the war. My Father checked in the toilet seats on his ship and told us the price. This is waist. In a way I feel sorry for West, that he has to live with so much hate in his heart. Sure glad he lost though. So lets work together as Americans, respect each other no matter what color we are, or what religion we are.

      Hey ellen65761,
maybe you should have preached this to schultz, obama, biden, and all of his name calling followers. How do you think they won, through his lies. Let’s talk about social security and all the other gov’t run calamities. It’s better to keep gov’t greedy hands away from our money. The less they get the less wasted. How many contracts and money that could have gone to US workers and citizens is given to countries that truly hate us(how about the muslim brotherhood, etc.?). You also talk about the 47% paying taxes, let’s clear that up. Do they pay income taxes, I pay the same other taxes they pay but also pay income taxes and keep the money in the US. You also talk about all of us working together. This is the most divisive administration. They have played the racist game, the us against the rich game(even though they are the rich), the religious game, the class game and anything and everything to separate this one from that one. All for political gains. The win at all costs mentality.
“Keep going after terrorist . Bring our boys and girls home”
How do you do both at the same time. You still actually have to capture people and really interogate them to get info out of them to find out what their future plans are.Plus you can’t treat these animals’ actions as civilian crimes (that’s what this administration wants to do). In regards to Allen West most people can’t handle a straight shooter who tells it like it is. The truth hurts. They want to hear the wishy, washy lies and propaganda. Good luck to Allen West no matter what the results.

We wonder why our country is in trouble? Such comments attacking one of the finest men such as Rep. Allen West over a corrupt opponent and a Liberal Left party like the Democrats is part of the reason. His statements are true because all you have to do is research the facts on everything he has said. ALSO, the voting procedure this year is the most corrupt even worse than LBJ did every time he came up for reelection in Texas. The Democrats are the leaders in voting fraud! Go Allen WEST! STAY strong and continue to fight!

Our servicemen and servicewomen were cheated our of their right to vote but are still expected to risk their lives?

THAT AIN’T RIGHT. I think we should give them ballots NOW and let them vote. It’s not their fault that they could not vote. It’s Obama’s and his cronies faults….

    Freedom of Speech!
This is your reward Lietenant Colonel Allen West for opening your mouth and speaking freely. Every effort is being made to kill our freedoms, especially our freedom of speech.
The people of your district probably have no idea of your distinguished military career.
West meet General Stanley A. McChrystal.
When you were forced to “retire” your statement spoke volumes:
“If it’s about the lives of my soldiers at stake, I’d go through hell with a gasoline can.” I believe you would, hells bells I know you would.
There are a few ways to make rank in the military. The worst is what we call “brown-nosing.” Premier examples of the darkest and largest brown-nosers, in my opinion, are Colin Powell and now Director of the CIA, General David Patraeus.
General Stanley A. McChrystal, once head of our Afghan Forces, and members of his staff opened their mouths, (off the record) about the VP what’s his name…Biden. Some Rolling Stone Mag fink rewrote the words and the Commander in Chief relieved him of his post only to be replaced by then General Patraeus. Why the media had not written about McChrystal’s major concerns stated openly a year before I do not know. In speaking about “hearts and minds,” Stanley stated that his men felt ham-strung, frustrated, flustered, and ******-over, as their were no standing orders or directives on how to engage the enemy, how to work with the people….
Please, my fellow commenters, I do not need comments on “Military Protocol,” and “The Chain of Command.” I am very familiar with Annapolis and service beyond.
The story I received from the General in command of the White House Marine Sentries, (“Yankee White”) when the commander in chief first took office is of interest. Sitting in the Oval Office, when first sworn in, he asked Rahm to bring in “that Army man” standing outside his office. Rahm replied, “that is a Marine Barack.” The president did not know the proper way to salute and wanted instruction. The Marine was marched into the Oval Office and the president asked him to show the proper way to salute. The Marine, who is now a lowly common citizen is said not to have missed a beat…”First Sir, you have to pull your finger out of your ***.”
I got that second hand and we all know how stories change…

Actually, the real losers overall from this election are the American people. I don’t know how President Obama will keep a straight face when he recites the Oath of Office. “Protect and defend the Constitution” is a joke to him. There is little recognition of the provision for 3 branches of government, thus checks & balances. He “legislates” through Executive Orders and his various departments issuing regulations regarding issues that Congress has rejected in a bipartisan manner – cap and trade, card check, net neutrality, DREAM act, etc. His Executive Orders are not aimed at the entire citizenry, but favor groups that he picks. Schools are failing in all sectors, yet he targets certain populations for special treatment rather than focusing on the whole. His “Green Agenda” favors individual businesses, many of which were failing, but received hundreds of millions and had to declare bankruptcy anyway because there is no market for the products. He gave billions to the auto industry and then the companies went through managed bankruptcy anyway. Chrysler was sold to Fiat, a foreign business. If the managed bankruptcy had been carried out, then federal loan guarantees were made available if needed, we would not still be owed about $20 billion or so.

      hey whereisyourconscience,
“just a bunch of sore losers”.
You are so naive to believe that we are the only losers of this election. Wake up and smell the coffee and stop drinking the obama kool-aid. The real losers are the freedom loving, hard-working, constitutional, american loving individuals who don’t want free stuff. We work hard, don’t want bailouts, free health care, free phones, free rent (or those of us who actually pay our mortgages and qualified for them), free food, etc. Real American citizans and it’s core values and lifestylles and ethics are the real losers. Unfortunately the last 4 years of corruption, lies, propanganda, hand-outs to special interests that helped get him into office weren’t enough. UNFORTUNATELY YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO SEE where these so -called leaders will take us. Not upwards. Don’t whine when you lose your freedoms, or your jobs(hopefully you do work and pay all the taxes including income taxes), or the price of things go out the roof.Allen West has every right to question the election results considering the track record of the democratic party from the last election and even now. We actually need more people like him to stand up and say what is the actual truth. The truth hurts the democrats. Good luck Allen West in all you do. Also Have you done your real homework on these people that were elected? Wake up some day and you will see.

There’s a difference between calling names out of hate and calling names out of truth and love of country. What Allen West said is TRUTH and LOVE OF COUNTRY.

The people who LOVE THIS COUNTRY lost to the people who LOVE MATERIAL THINGS and have no clue they’ve lost their freedom.

GO ALLEN WEST! I’d love to see a revolution. It’s time for one. This great country was born of a revolution and it can be restored of a revolution. All we need is one person to lead and I vote for Allen West to lead the way. That man and I both share LOVE OF OUR COUNTRY.

On election day, I worked as a poll watcher at two precincts housed in one building, in Florida Congressional District 18, Allen West’s district, with three ladies who also were working as poll watchers.

Having worked the polls before for the St. Lucie County Election Supervisors office, I knew how things were supposed to work and what to watch for. The two precinct clerks were experienced and the voting ran very smoothly, and we had nothing to report.

One of the ladies wandered all over the precincts inside and out, had an argument with one of the clerks and also busied herself by writing in a notebook. At around 10:00 am she gathered her belongings and left without saying a word.

Shortly thereafter, one of the clerks approached us and asked why we’d called the Supervisor of Elections and made a complaint. He’d just gotten off of the phone with her and had been chewed out. In fact, as we told him, none of us had made a complaint, there was simply nothing to complain about. Then the second clerk came over and informed us that the lady who argued with him, and who had recently left us had made the complaint. What she told the Supervisor of Elections was: That one of the clerks had made a general announcement that everyone was required to vote by provisional ballot, and that the election machine were malfunctioning. None of those statements were true.

At that time I phone the county Republican headquarters for whom I was watching the polls and reported the incident. They thanked me and told me that she was part of a group attempting to cause chaos at the polls.

Whether or not there were actual problems with the count or malfunctions at other precincts, I cannot say. However I found the actions of this woman disturbing and wondered if she and others like her had somehow effected the outcome of the election in our district.
