Over 100 Occupy Wall Street arrests in NYC

By AP Staff

NEW YORK (AP) - Police say more than 100 people have been arrested as Occupy Wall Street protesters march in small groups around Manhattan's financial district to mark the anniversary of the grass-roots movement.

Police also removed four protesters in wheelchairs after they blocked a busy street Monday.

Loud chanting and the sound of drums filled the air. The demonstrators clogged traffic, and dozens of police officers and vans lined the streets.

But the protests lacked the heft of last year's Occupy events. Last year there were thousands of protesters. On Monday morning, there were a few hundred at most.

Earlier, they gathered across from Zuccotti Park, the site of the movement's birth.

Events are planned in more than 30 cities worldwide.

In San Francisco, they include an afternoon march to the Financial District and an evening rally outside Bank of America.

We mow the lawn all the way onto the nearby brookside edges, and trim what remains with the usual gas-powered devices: the dandelions of spring survive only so long as their yellow blooms provide my wife’s honeybees with a spring taste they savor, and then she rips them from the ground by hand. Everything and everyone in this life has a purpose, and when it no longer does is ignored or eradicated: those who cannot appreciate the work and value of the work of others may be given one, two, three chances to learn, and then must, like a thorn tree, be torn down and burned. The Occupy movement is not a naturally occurring grassroots efforts but a put up job by those who hope to destroy the best America offers: Liberty that guarantees our many freedoms unknown in other parts of the world where the protestor have never been and so are without the genius to comprehend. My first time out, 1969, I kissed the concrete where our ship berthed in NY City, having circumnavigated the globe and seen the greater truth. My next outside venture of any merit was a year spent backpacking everywhere across Europe, including parts of the former East Germany, into Czechoslovakia, on to Poland, and then into Greece, and on to the Greek Islands, having entered through Brindisi, Italy. The Occupists, and so should they most properly be called, are Know-Nothings of the least measure, led by useful fools of little account other than for their collusion with forces they fail to comprehend.

Send those occupiers to Afghanistan or somewhere like that and let them escape. Don’t bother trying to recapture them. Wait patiently to see what happens while a committee considers what to do about them. I think the problem will soon resolve it self.

They kind of remind of the teachers of Chicago. Even if it helps their cause a little, they will never get respect from the patriot Americans who believe in the constitution. The only people they relate to are people on the fringes. Emanuel should have fired them all but he talks tough and does nothing to back it up.
