Ann Romney to address convention Tuesday night

By AP Staff

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Republican National Convention officials say Mitt Romney's wife, Ann, will speaking during prime time television coverage of the event.

Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a rising national figure in the party, gave up his Tuesday night speaking slot for Mrs. Romney, who was scheduled to speak on Monday, the convention's opening night. Broadcast television networks were not planning to cover Monday's proceedings in Tampa, Fla.

Mrs. Romney is a key surrogate in a race where women voters are fiercely sought-after by Romney and Democratic President Barack Obama.

Rubio, however, will still have a prime time slot. The freshman senator and tea party favorite will address the convention in his home state on Thursday, just before Romney closes the convention with his acceptance speech.

This is a good move for the Romney team. Ann Romney is an asset to Mitt Romney and has always been there for Mitt and vice versa, particularly when she was going through cancer treatment, etc. They have a strong relationship that goes back to their high school days together and has weathered through both the good times and the challenges that families have to deal with through their lives. Ann, of all people in Mitt’s life, can provide the most candid insight into the more personal side of Mitt Romney and I am looking forward to what she has to say and I am glad they moved her slot to a primetime coverage slot. The American people at large have only seen the image/persona of Romney that the Obama campaign team and the liberal media and their pundits have “created” through their manipulation of information and “gutter politics” approach to the campaign, and need to hear what Ann Romney has to say about her husband.

I totally agree JDZ. Unfortunately the MSM will cut and splice all the speeches to make it look bad.
I have heard her talk and she is very good without the teleprompter.. genuine.

We could actually have an honest First Lady representing the country, how refreshing. I wonder how many other vacations Michelle will rip off us taxpayers before her departure…17 vacations in less than 4 years should go into the Guinness book of world records. Let’s get rid of the Pelosi plane and send her home to California too, maybe they will welcome her in Hollywood before they have more cities declaring bankrupcy…
