Nelson, Mack easily win Fla. Senate primaries

By Brendan Farrington

MIAMI (AP) - Florida Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson will face Republican Connie Mack IV in November after each easily won their respective party primaries.

Nelson had about 80 percent of the vote in early returns Tuesday while Mack had nearly 60 percent. Both had been heavy favorites.

Their wins set up a contest for the Florida U.S. Senate seat once held by Mack's father, Connie Mack III.

Mack was buoyed by the famous name he and his father share with the Hall of Fame baseball manager.

Three other Republicans dropped out of the race when the four-term Republican congressman got in and immediately took a commanding lead in the polls.

Former Rep. Dave Weldon entered the race just three months before the primary but wasn't able to build up name recognition or the resources to mount a successful challenge.

Nelson faced minor opposition from political unknown Glenn Burkett.

We must stand with Connie Mack if we want to stop the liberalizing of FL. Sen. Nelson has done nothing for the people of FL, he is too busy doing whatever Obummer wants and he has constantly sided with illegal lawbreakers over Americans. He needs to be running for office in Mexico or Cuba. Florida and America needs Connie Mack! Bill will fight dirty because he cannot run on his own record, the same as Obummer!

Nelson is a party hack and needs to go! Whenever Harry Reid needs a vote, he can count on Bill Nelson to vote his way!

nelson is definitely a party hack whom I will NOT vote for, but the problem is that C. Mack is nothing but a RINO and his ethics are probably worse than nelson’s. The dilemma is which is worse? I will have to vote for Mack I suppose mostly because a Repub is the lessor of 2 evils.
