Reid wants nothing to do with gun legislation

By AP Staff

WASHINGTON (AP) - Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says the Senate's schedule is too packed to have a debate on gun control.

Reporters asked the Nevada Democrat about the issue less than a week after a gunman killed 12 people and wounded dozens at a movie theater in Aurora, Col.

On Wednesday, President Barack Obama suggested he'd favor some additional restrictions on guns, while Republican presidential challenger Mitt Romney said changing laws would not prevent tragedies like the Aurora shootings.

Reid said he supported Obama's remarks. But he said with the Senate's busy schedule, there will not be a debate on guns.

Asked if the Senate might debate the issue next year, Reid said, "Nice try."

Gun control is a politically delicate issue in Congress, which hasn't approved legislation curbing guns in years.

What the ‘maroon’ is trying to say is the ‘red hot issue’ of gun control could really take it’s toll on the Dems in an election year.

To put that another way, the Dems are going to see so many losses this election season, they don’t need a gun debate to finish off the few remaining ones.

Imagine a Congress with no Democrats. It’s actually frightening… and I’m a Republican.

He has the audacity to lie to the public after doing nothing but trying to stop the GOP from addressing any problems! However, regardless of his excuse, I am glad the Senate doesn’t want to get involved in more gun control legislation.

The problem in the theater killing was there wasn’t enough guns. The theater had a no gun policy. No guns were allowed in the theater so no one had a gun to stop the killer.

Nothing like a ‘nutjob’ looking down the barrel of a .357 magnum and reciting his last words “Boy, did I screw up!”

Don’t these jokers (congress) break for vacation at the end of July? Of course they are busy! Busy lining up free transportation and free lodging for their “working break”.

    Let’s see now….

cHillary is scheduled to sell us down the river by signing a Small Arms Treaty with the UN on Friday (27th). With congress jumping ship on the 31st (or more likely on the 27th so they can get a head-start on their vacations… “working break”) means the sock-puppet-in-chief (Obomba) will have “the hen house” all to himself with nobody there to watch over him.

What’s the bets that ZERO will, by “executive order”, try to ratify the so-called Small Arms Treaty with the UN thus by-passing congress. Not legal but just watch the liberal rats follow lock-step behind their Pie-Eyed Piper.

    THIS ADMINISTRATION NEEDS AN ENEMA!

First a question: why are you calling it the “so-called” Small Arms treaty and why is ‘executive order’ in quotes?.

Second: Do you really want to bet that Obama will somehow ratify an international treaty by executive order before congress reconvenes on September 10th? I will take that bet Jed1. How much?

We’ll know who is right in 40 days.

Bullpucky. What about the UN Small Arms Treaty that Hillary is trying her level best to push through and O’Bummer is salivating to sign. What most Americans don’t do, is stay up and watch C-Span in the wee hours of the morning and watch what the Senate is up to when, except for us night-owls, the country is fast asleep. Did anyone ever check to see which side of Harry Reid’s mouth was moving when he made that comment? “Hi, I’m Harry Reid, and you can trust me.” “I also have a Bridge I can let you have Cheep!”

NO CAN DO! The Constitution gives Obozo the authority to make recess appointments, but a treaty MUST be ratified by the Senate. If he tries something underhanded while the Senate is in recess, Boehner will be under enormous pressure to call the House back in session and draft articles of impeachment against Obama.

Of course Reid wants nothing to do with gun legislation. Nevada likes its guns and his illegal voters have gone home to Mexico and left behind a lot of empty houses.
