Obama presses Congress to raise taxes

By AP Staff

WASHINGTON (AP) - President Barack Obama is prodding Congress to "skip the unnecessary drama" and pass his proposal to extend Bush-era tax cuts to families earning less than $250,000 a year but not for those who earn more.

In his weekly radio and Internet address, Obama denounces what he calls "needless delays" and "partisan posturing."

He has been pushing his proposal hard all week, but congressional Republicans are blocking it.

Obama says that will "hold the vast majority of Americans and our entire economy hostage."

In the Republican address, Sen. Rob Portman of Ohio says Obama's proposal would punish many small business owners who report business profits as personal income.

He says that raising taxes on job creators "makes about as much sense as cutting off the water supply during a drought."

Ozero once again is as clueless as he can be. I really don’t believe the man has an elevator that reaches the top floor. How can someone [supposedly] very intelligent keep the same losing, failing policies and defend them in the face of facts in the other direction? He is only making this stand to [try] to shift blame to the GOP and for his efforts; continue to plunge the USA into the dismal abyss of economic failure and increased deficits. He MUST be replaced in November.

I hear people saying: That doesn’t make any sense, or He doesn’t understand.

He understands just fine. People are looking at him and his actions from the wrong perspective. They assume that he ISN’T trying to hurt America. If one looks at him from the perspective that he IS trying to hurt American, suddenly everything makes sense, and he seems pretty smart.

I agree. I think he knows exactly where he wants to take our country. He is the ultimate terrorist within, a very very scary man.

Let’s not forget where Obama came from and his upbringing. I think that he is a very angry man because of the reported dysfunctional family and his upbringing. He puts on a good face but deep inside he has lots of anger and we the citizens of this great country are stuck with him. He knows exactly what he is doing and that is to bring down our republic and tansform it into a Marxist or socialist nation. What is more disturbing is those who bow to him and fail to see what is coming our way. Raising taxes on the well to do is punishing those who have worked hard to achieve success.

If Congress doesn’t pass the tax bill that he wants the “Dictator-in-Chief will just issue another executive order. Folks, we are living in a dictatorship and Congress doesn’t have the guts to impeach him.

The Senate Republicans should play matador defense on this. Let the chimp in chief own it, along with the Senate dims. About a third of the seats are being contested, and I believe any tax hike will ultimately fail in his own party, and if it passes, a ticked off electorate will show at the polls in November….
