Obama Pentagon to salute gay troops

By Pauline Jelinek

WASHINGTON (AP) - Last summer, gays in the military dared not admit their sexual orientation. This summer, the Pentagon will salute them, marking gay pride month just as it marks other celebrations honoring racial or ethnic groups.

Officials said Thursday that they're planning the first-ever event to recognize gay and lesbian troops. They declined to give details about what the event will be, but officials said Defense Secretary Leon Panetta feels it's important to recognize the service of gays in the armed forces.

June is gay pride month in the U.S. This is the first time the Pentagon could participate, since September's repeal of "don't ask, don't tell." Under the 1993 law, troops were kicked out for talking about their sexual orientation and more than 13,000 lost their jobs.

Will they be creating a new, gay, rainbow ribbon to go along side of purple hearts, silver stars and legion of merit ribbons?

You realize we’ve had homosexuals in the military as long as we’ve had a military and that they’ve done some of the same heroic acts that heterosexuals have, right? In fact, many have received our highest awards for their conduct. Why the need to belittle?

      Oregon Jeff…
Of course there have been homosexuals in the military for years and they have acted in a heroic manner. So, why the need to recognize them for their sexual persuasion rather than their service to the country with NO information on sexual sidings?

When homosexuals focus so much on their sexual desires rather than what they are accomplishing it just seems strange. Is that the ONLY thing that defines who they are? Why should what you like to do in the privacy of your own home be something that should be honored and announced? When will there be a “heterosexual pride” event?

Honors in the military should be for service and heroic actions and nothing more. That goes for ethnic and racial pride events also. The only celebrations should be for jobs well done and missions accomplished.

A warrior has too many other thing to worry about, rather than whether he’s going to be molested in his sleep. And yes, this has been going on for quite some time. I’ve had to chase down and arrest such molesters because they couldn’t keep their mouths shut. You don’t think you know what you are talking about. Gay pride in the Military has NOTHING to do with heroic acts period. I didn’t see or hear of one heroic act, by a gay, in Viet Nam or for that matter all my seven years in the Military Police Corps.

Oregon Jeff asks why belittle,,,,,,because men who make love to receptacles of human waste BE LITTLE MEN in body and mind. Why would you allow them to cover your backside in battle, when it is your backside that they wish to cover,,,,with themselves. Those homosexuals who served and died should be celebrated for their acts of humanity, not their homosexual acts of animal enslavement which no sane person goes to war to protect or elevate as a human condition.

He wants to over turn DOMA, (the Defense of Marriage Act, he’s already overturned DADT, he’s publicly come out in favor of gay marriage, his “schools czar” Kevin Jennings is the founder of GLSEN (gay/lesbian/straight educational network, and now his pentagon is going to be celebrating gays in the military. What’s next? He is the most pro homosexual president in the history of this nation.

That which our enemies without could previously not conquer, our enemies within have conquered, corrupted and weakened to our own future jeopardy. One more chink in the military wall that stands between us and the dark side of humanity. The progressive agenda of the progressive liberal to destroy this nation has just advanced down field. Thank you President Obama, Thank you Leon Panetta it is you who have become the enemy within and you have revealed your true stripes and your true weakening agenda. Your days in power are numbered.

The more “politically correct” we become, the more we cater to sexual preferences and other debaucerous behavior, the more our country deteriorates…especially when we glorify and celebrate those things.

I’m shocked that the Pentagon would do this, it’s just another example of the deterioration of our country, it’s values, morals, ethics and customs. I am losing more and more respect for the ‘left turn’ our military has made. My father and brothers are probably ‘turning over in their graves’.

    Shame on the Pentagon.

Same with my Father. The so called, “Greatest Generation”, can turn it’s collective back on this criminal travesty.

Part of the Communist agenda to win, was to embrace as normal, anything perverse, to make homosexuality mainstream… .

The Military once took the psychiatric view of this so called lifestyle, as a form mental illness that manifested a whole set of undesired frailties. That unity in combat, would be compromised in close quarters, and total lack of privacy. But that was turned upside down, and changed.

Now those, “in their own custom decor comfy mental nut house”, are calling what is normal, good, acceptable, what is a hate crime, punishable with fines, demotions, and imprisonment.

It is just around the corner that Man Boy associations will be peachy keen? Pedophilia? Not a prob. Bestiality? Why not? Necrophilia? War supplies happiness.

If, and when this whole retched mess of what is left of The Republic, turns putrid belly up, it is just a hunch, that payback will be rather nasty. Good!

“Hey, look at me I’m a (insert special interest group of choice).”

When it comes to being a patriotic, unified member of our armed services, defending our country and it’s “melting pot” collection of who we are … the whole notion of a “special day” for a group (black, white, muslim, christian, hispanic, jewish, male, female, oriental, anglo, native, motorcyclist, ventriloquist, republican, democrat, atheist, agnostic, northerner, southerner, easterner, westerner or any other sub-category group of choice) goes against the entire concept of “United States” of America. Every time we single out another “special interest group” … we water down the fabric of what it means to be a Service Member of the United States of America.

We all bleed red, and we defend the “Red, White & Blue” … and we should remain as ONE category … Service Members … Past, present & future.

“Hey, look at me, I’m special” is the antithesis of fostering camaraderie toward we stand united to defend and serve. Please don’t “jam” another way of dividing those who are intended to serve together.

But, I guess if you have never put your life on the line for our country … you wouldn’t understand.

Service members are sworn to defend against all enemies … foreign and domestic. For me, our greatest enemies are not on foreign land, but our own domestic soil. Some leadership we have. :-(

I weep for my country. I just didn’t think things could sink any lower. The greatest military the world has ever known… has been reduced to a PC social experiment by politicians who’ve always been clear on their loathing of anything military. The fact that real warriors are being forced to co-mingle with who-knows-what… is truly heartbreaking and scary for the security of this nation.
