Gingrich calls Romney 'anti-immigrant'

By AP Staff

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. (AP) — Republican Newt Gingrich says he does not believe rival Mitt Romney's proposal to allow illegal immigrants to voluntarily deport themselves would be successful, adding that his presidential rival is the "most anti-immigrant" candidate.

Gingrich and Romney clashed in the opening moments of Thursday's debate in Florida.

Gingrich says the United States is not going to yank grandmothers from their homes and calls for immigration policies to be realistic. He adds that Romney is biased against immigrants.

Romney says such rhetoric is "inexcusable" and "repulsive." He says he wants legal immigration and that existing laws must be obeyed.

Rick Santorum says he agrees with Romney's position. Ron Paul says the U.S. needs to focus on the border between Pakistan and Afghanistan, not the one between the U.S. and Texas.

Is calling Mitt “anti-immigrant” supposed to make me dislike him? I am “pro-American” and I want a candidate who will give jobs to Americans first. Part of the problem with our healthcare and educational systems is all the illegal immigrants in this country draining our resources. Newt needs to quit sounding like “W” on this issue. It was an issue that I strongly disagreed with Bush over. I know that Reagan had a huge amnesty program as well. I think that was Reagan’s biggest flaw as well.

I very strongly agree, txgoatlady.  Illegal immigration is a BIG issue to me.  In defense of Reagan, he did that as part of a deal to seal the border to stop future illegals.  Just like with every other deal made with democrats, they defaulted on their end.

I hope everyone who is concerned about immigration issues considers joining this free group or at least consider signing the petition to Congress asking it to give job priority to Americans:

Allowing Grandma or any illegal Alien to break into Home America and cost the AMerican Taxpayers in additional Social services to support  them, without paying a heavy fine is not anti immigration, but Anti-American. We have laws and laws should have concequences. Government should enforce justice not mercy or all we get is a confused government where we get no justice as our tax dollars get taken from honest labor to support those who flaunt our laws in dishonestly, and we get no mercy in enslaving more people of the earth into socialist salvery of dependency and unaccountability for their own actions and poor life choices.

Mit got this one right, Newt is still pandering to a people who are not even suppose to have the legal right to vote, let alone continue to consume our AMerican wealth in dishonesty.

Paul said that we should not be focusing on the border between Pakistan & Afghanistan but rather the US border.  The AP reporter must be hung over, as per, saying that Paul said that the “focus should not be between the US & Texas.”  Really?  US & Texas?  Did we become a Republic again?  Great Heavens up above!  Paul wants attention paid to border issues, here at home and not abroad.  Crazy talk!

Oh yes, mister reporter guy, the fracas between the Oklahoma & New Mexico borders and Texas is something else.  Are you paid for this???

Gingrich is playing it both ways:  Let the old illegal grannies stay (votes from the illegals) – throw out the young new illegals (votes from those against illegals).  He is soooooo smart.

Wanting to have his cake and eat it too shouldn’t be a surprise from the La Follette progressive, considering how he treated at least two wives.

Only a hyppocrite could support Gingrich while decrying the moral decay of our society.
