Bachmann vows to stay in GOP race despite setbacks

By Brian Bakst

DES MOINES, Iowa (AP) - Vowing to press ahead through the Iowa caucuses, Republican Michele Bachmann dismissed the notion Thursday that her presidential campaign was in disarray.

Her comments came a day after a key supporter fled her campaign and she had to fend off other calls to leave the race for the GOP nomination.

The Minnesota congresswoman called her campaign organization "strong" and said her headquarters had received 150 calls of support after her Iowa campaign chairman, state Sen. Kent Sorenson, resigned and switched his allegiance to rival Ron Paul.

Sorenson backed Paul on Wednesday, a few hours after appearing with Bachmann. She alleges he was offered "a lot of money" to change sides, an inducement she said Sorenson had told her about during a telephone conversation on Tuesday.

"I know what I was told in that conversation," Bachmann said.

The Paul campaign and Sorenson deny that money factored into the decision or that any such offer was made.

Sorenson told CNN on Thursday that he wanted to back a candidate who is in a position to keep Mitt Romney from winning Iowa. "It's unfortunate they're resorting to these type of tactics," Sorenson said. "But the fact of the matter is she wasn't going to win Iowa."

Bachmann's Iowa political director, Wes Enos, said he doesn't believe Sorenson left for money. Enos said he was staying with the Bachmann campaign.

      ….its jest God cleaning house….

I have faith in Michele, no matter.

When you find someone with her credentials and moral stance you have to say..”yeah, there she is, thats the one…” and then back her with a vote, prayer, and encouragement… thats all we have to do…we are not skilled enough nor close enough to say just what moves would stop someone else or to even waste our time trying to decipher the other candidates’ tactics…just keep your eye on your candidate and do what you can…

      Go girl…Go Iron Lady!

I will certainly consider her if she lasts until our primary. However, the nominee is usually chosen by that time and most everyone else has dropped out. I think she would be a good choice for a running mate, especially if we end up with a moderate like Romney.

BTW, I heard a snippet on the news yesterday that rumor has it Obama might drop Biden for Hillary this time. Is there any truth to that? That could be trouble for the Republicans. Hillary is still very popular with a lot of Democrats and Independents who don’t like Obama.

I heard that rumor as well, and Hillary did address it in an interview.  She claims that she will no longer be running for any political office and will retire as soon as she’s able.  I guess time will tell.

I wouldn’t believe anything any Clinton says. That being said, I can’t see Hillary consenting to be Obama’s VP. What the Republicans have to worry about is nominating another RINO like McCain and Team Obama and the demorats (sic) cheating like nobody has ever seen before.

They and the state-run media are trying very hard to choose our candidate and once again and may very well succeed. They definitely don’t want any part of Michele Bachmann. Go Michele!

Bachmann is finito. Good riddance to a very poor candidate whose only ability is to whine about the other candidates. I hate listening to her shrill voice and constant complaints, her phony talking with God act and about the upteen kids she has adopted.

You say:”….her phony talking with God act and about the upteen kids she has adopted”…

Can you help me here? ….specially about her being exposed for being “phony”…and the “upteen kids” thing etc…If shes “faking me” I don’t like to be taken for stupid by anybody so what you say is important for me to followup on…which source should I go to to find out more of the details that  convinced you about her “phony” and “upteen kids”…etc.?

Thanks ahead of time, WDJINC for confirming and sharing that information…we all gotta help each other. I’ll wait for your reply.

You certainly have a right to your opinion, but I could not disagree with you more, wdjinc. I guess fighting against the anti-America BS sounds like whining to you and I can’t see why you object to her relationship with God or helping children who need it. Seems to me to be things that should be admired. I hope to God you’re wrong about her being done.

Michele Bachman is a a wonderful person and I admire her greatly, but for some reason she is not resonating with the voters. I must admit, her message is spot on, but the delivery is off. Sarah Palin could command a room with little effort and without the media’s savage takedown, we could have seen her on the list of primary candidates this fall. Michele is no Sarah

I think Michele is better than Sarah in that she does not support a “path to citizenship” for illegal immigrants. What have we come to when we are more concerned about the showmanship of how the message is delivered than the message itself. Barack Obama won with a vacuous message of “hope and change”, but he’s great in front of the teleprompter.

Maybe we need to get behind the person with the right message who may not be the best actor, instead of waiting for someone to wow us out of our seats with charisma and a huge persona to lead us to Happyville. I’ll take Michele, who’s heart and soul are dedicated to God and America over a charismatic globalist or socialist every time.

Michele is the kind of a candidate that comes around perhaps only once in our lifetime.Certainly in mine.I haven’t found anything,on issues that really matter, that I wouldn’t be excited and upbeat about as she speaks about them. Many of you guys, particularly “downdraft” and “teapartyproud”,make me believe that she has enough true supporters to do very well in Iowa and beyond.Sorenson is just a spineless liar, his excuses are so weak that anyone with a common sense thinking must recognize his intentions.I was surprised by Enos’ response. He’s flat out wrong because other articles about this Sorenson’s leave clearly state the opposite.I feel quite uncomfortable about people in Michele’s camp.I wish I could vet them and their loyalty myself. Finally, to all Bachmann’s supporters- forget about Santorum,he hasn’t been vetted at all,yet I read about his past from credible conservative sources, and his past his pretty bad.Trust me on this. He’s a no-no.Forget about Palin, please. She’s a distraction and I already believe that she keeps an attention on her at any cost with her “running, maybe, etc,” comments. And her being better than Bachmann?Whoever says that,is simply a blind hard core Palin supporter and they’re out of touch with reality.Bachmann has an impressive overall knowledge of things unlike Palin. How can anyone dispute that?To reclaim America’s founding principles-Bachmann 2012.
