Former CIA executive director indicted

SAN DIEGO (UPI) -- Former CIA Executive Director Kyle "Dusty" Foggo was indicted in San Diego Tuesday on charges of steering contracts to an old friend and sharing the proceeds.

The federal indictment stems from the same investigation that led to the imprisonment of former U.S. Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham, the San Diego Union-Tribune said. Brent Wilkes, a San Diego defense contractor, was charged in two indictments with bribing Cunningham and conspiring with Foggo.

Foggo received thousands of dollars in gifts, restaurant meals and vacations from Wilkes, U.S. Attorney Carol Lam in San Diego said. Wilkes also had a standing offer for Foggo of an executive position with his company, ACDS, based in Poway, Calif., the prosecution alleges.

Former CIA Director Porter Goss named Foggo executive director, putting him in charge of the agency's secret contracts. He resigned last year when the investigation became public.

Another defendant, New York mortgage banker John Michael, is charged with obstructing the investigation into Wilkes' paying off the mortgage on Cunningham's home in Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.
