Tancredo makes it official

(AgapePress) -- Another Republican has officially entered the 2008 presidential race. U.S. Congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado is considered a long shot, but the longtime champion for immigration reform has made his candidacy official with an April 2 announcement from Des Moines, Iowa.

Monday morning on 1040 WHO Talk Radio, Tancredo affirmed his intention to run, noting that he was "doing so on talk radio because we face a problem of enormous proportion, and it's called illegal immigration. Talk radio has been the backbone of this movement for years."

The Colorado Republican and 2008 presidential hopeful went on to acknowledge that "millions of listeners have helped us stop amnesty and make almost every candidate running for public office at least pretend to oppose illegal immigration."

Although Tancredo has tried to express his views on issues other than immigration, many political pundits believe he will have a difficult time overcoming the perception that he is a one-issue candidate.
