(CNSNews.com) -- A Republican congressman Tuesday said Democratic National Committee Chairman Howard Dean is a "living example of why Washington is so divided."
Speaking at a fundraiser in Lawrence, Kan., last week, Dean described the political differences between Republicans and Democrats as "a struggle of good and evil. And we're the good."
Rep. Mark Foley (R-Fla.) said Dean "is back to his shrill best."
In a statement, Foley said Dean "continues to prove what I have said from the beginning--the best move for the Republican Party was to have Howard Dean leading the Democrats.
"Unfortunately, Howard Dean does nothing to improve the dialogue that is so important as we work to protect Social Security, fight terrorism, spread freedom and make America stronger," added Foley.
Foley said in contrast to Dean and his comments, the GOP's idea of evil is al Qaeda and Osama bin Laden, "not fellow Americans."

"We may disagree on policy, but we should never characterize their beliefs in such stark and regrettable terms. Howard Dean is a living, breathing example of why Washington has become so divided," Foley concluded.
