Does this president have any idea what it means to be a leader? Seriously. Here is a man that following the deaths of four Americans in Libya and the attack on the embassy in Egypt described the situation as “bumps in the road.” Now, Obama is at it again. This time during a stop on Comedy Central (how presidential) where he called the tragedy in Libya “not optimal.”
First, here’s a clip of Barack Obama’s comments on CBS’s “60 Minutes” program where he said there would be “bumps in the road.” Keep in mind that this interview came after four Americans were killed in Libya.
The phrasing was quickly criticized around the country with GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney saying the comment was quite “revealing.”
“His indication that developments in the Middle East represent bumps in the road is a very different view than I have,” said Romney. “I can’t imagine saying something like the assassination of ambassadors is a bump in the road, when you look at the entire context, the assassination, the Muslim brotherhood president being elected in Egypt, 20,000 people killed in Syria, Iran close to becoming a nuclear nation. These are far from being bumps in the road.”

Did Barack Obama learn from that comment? Did he realize that American lives are more than “bumps in the road?” No. As we see in this report from the Daily Mail, Obama told Jon Stewart during a Comedy Central interview that “If four Americans get killed, it’s not optimal.”
Not optimal? Are you kidding me? How about tragic? How about evil? How about a terrorist attack that will not stand? Nope… the deaths were simply “not optimal.”
It’s even worse when you see him say it. So… the deaths are “not optimal” and he blames this on the fact that the “government is a big operation and at any given time, something screws up.” How do you think the families of the victims feel about that one?
One mother is furious. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Pat Smith, whose son Sean was killed in the Benghazi attack said, “My son is not very optimal – he is also very dead.”
Speaking exclusively to MailOnline today, Pat Smith, whose son Sean died in the raid, said: ‘It was a disrespectful thing to say and I don’t think it’s right.
‘How can you say somebody being killed is not very optimal? I don’t think the President has the right idea of the English language.’
Speaking from her home in San Diego, Mrs Smith, 72, continued: ‘It’s insensitive to say my son is not very optimal – he is also very dead. I’ve not been “optimal” since he died and the past few weeks have been pure hell.
‘I am still waiting for the truth to come out and I still want to know the truth. I’m finally starting to get some answers but I won’t give up.’
This is the president of the United States, and he can’t seem to understand what terror is all about and what being the commander-in-chief is all about. For him, it’s on to the next interview and fundraiser. Tragic.
