On November 8, 2005, Texans will have the opportunity to define marriage as being a union between one man and one woman. The measure will be Proposition 2 on the ballot, and there are numerous groups who are working to defeat this measure. We must all work together to ensure that Prop 2, the Texas Marriage Amendment, passes!

Ballot Language

"The constitutional amendment providing that marriage in this state consists only of the union of one man and one woman and prohibiting this state or a political subdivision of this state from creating or recognizing any legal status identical or similar to marriage."

Here's what you can do to help:

• Register to Vote -- Please make sure you are registered to vote and encourage your friends and colleagues to register as well. The deadline for registering to vote is October 11, 2005. Don't miss it!
• Obtain voter registration card at county court house or most post offices, or
• Download a voter registration form from the Texas Secretary of State's office and mail it to the appropriate voter registration official in your area.

• Get More Information -- Be as informed as possible by going to the following web sites for more information on Prop 2, the Texas Marriage Amendment:

• Get a Yard Sign -- Draw attention to this important issue by placing a sign in your window, yard, or place of business. Click here to order a sign.

• Vote Early -- Rather than waiting until Election Day, consider voting early. Early voting is open from October 24 to November 4, 2005.

• Vote on November 8 -- The opposition will be out in force. Make sure to go to the polls on Election Day, November 8, 2005. Make sure your family and friends vote as well.
