While those on the left (including the media) love to blame conservatives for “vitriol,” heated rhetoric, or just about anything else, it may come as a shock to know that some of the most disgusting and hate-filled writings come from those very people who say we should all just get along. The latest target is Sarah Palin’s son Trig who was born with Down syndrome.

Check out this post from the leftwing site Wonkette. On Wednesday, the author had removed his name, presumably because he was taking too much heat for his writing. This morning, the author’s name is back, along with this “update”:

UPDATE: I regret this post and using the word “retarded” in a reference to Sarah Palin’s child. It’s not nice, and is not necessary, but I take responsibility for writing it. For those who came and are offended by this post: I’m sorry, of course. But I stand by my criticism of Sarah Palin using her child as a political prop. — Jack Stuef

Here’s a sampling of what he wrote:

Today is the day we come together to celebrate the snowbilly grifter’s magical journey from Texas to Alaska to deliver to the America the great gentleman scholar Trig Palin. Is Palin his true mother? Or was Bristol? (And why is it that nobody questions who the father is? Because, either way, Todd definitely did it.) It doesn’t matter. What matters is that we are privileged to live in a time when we can witness the greatest prop in world political history.

In reference to a birthday poem written for Trig which includes, “Oh, little boy what are you dreaming about,” Jack Stuef writes, “What’s he dreaming about? Nothing. He’s retarded.”

Stuef includes some videos of the Palins and ends with this:

Enjoy yourself today, Trig. Have fun! Get drunk (on purpose this time)! We can hardly wait for 15 years from now, when you will finally be able to vote and will be sent off by your mother’s junta to fight the Union in the Great Alaska War. It’ll be quite a loss. You’re the smartest one in that family.

Wikipedia describes the Wonkette site this way:

Wonkette is a left-leaning American online magazine of topical satire and political gossip, edited by Ken Layne since 2006. Established in 2004 by Gawker Media and founding editor Ana Marie Cox, it details the goings-on of the politicalestablishment in Washington, DC and the U.S.
Taking a sarcastic tone, the site focuses heavily on humorous breaking news, rumors, and the downfall of the powerful. It also deals with serious matters of politics and policy. While liberal in outlook, the site is critical of Republicans, Democrats, and Independents.

Is making fun of someone’s child political satire? As terrible as this posting is, it appears to be just business as usual for the Wonkette site. Just a quick scan of the site’s home page reveals an article on David and Charles Koch titled, “Koch Industries Forcing Employees To Vote For Teabaggers.” In the story, the Kochs’ are described as “evil muppet billionaires.”

Another headline reads, “Pawlenty’s Kindergarten: Sharing Is ‘Socialist’ & Slavery Helps Capitalism.” That article begins with the following paragraph:

Dull turd Tim Pawlenty actually did do something dingbatty enough to qualify him for the second tier of the Republican presidential candidates: He put some fringe-right nutter from the Bush Administration in charge of the Minnesota public school curriculum, and this educational terrorist installed a board of fundamentalist homeschoolers and extremist libertarians…

So… where is the media now? This sure seems like a whole bunch of hate speech to me, don’t you think? If the whole idea of the left is “tolerance” and “acceptance,” why are they so vile? Perhaps since their ideas have been rejected, the only way to get attention is to shout the loudest.
