Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee insists that the GOP’s support of the recent $1.1 trillion omnibus spending bill — which includes Planned Parenthood funding — is to blame for the mass exodus that is being witnessed from the Republican Party.

The former Arkansas governor insists that large numbers are leaving the GOP because they have lost their faith in their party, which controls both chambers of Congress that passed the controversial bill putting more taxpayer dollars in the hands of the world’s largest abortion provider.

“[The passage of the bill] put a lot of people over the top, [because after] working hard to get Republican majorities in the House and the Senate, [grassroots conservatives fail to see] significant policy changes,” Huckabee recently stated on MSNBC’s Morning Joe.

According to Huckabee, conservatives across America put their trust in the Republican officials who they voted into office to represent their party’s supposed platform ideals — including its fight against the federal funding of abortion. He says many were let down for the last time and have finally had enough of the GOP.

“That’s why people in the Republican Party are just bolting for the door,” the former Fox talk show host expressed to former Republican Congressman Joe Scarborough, according to LifeSiteNews.

A sign of more to come?

What Huckabee pointed out right before Christmas was substantiated when Billy Graham Evangelistic Association President and CEO Franklin Graham recently announced that he is leaving the Republican Party — mainly because of its refusal to not put an end to the federal funding of Planned Parenthood.

Graham has overtly spoken out against the abortion giant for years, increasing his attack on the taxpayer-funded organization in the wake of the recent selling of baby body parts scandal that dominated the media last year. The world-renowned evangelist has proclaimed that one of the fundamental duties of the government is to protect its citizens — and that it is not doing that by funding Planned Parenthood with taxpayer dollars to kill innocent preborn children.

Huckabee, who is not a frontrunner in his 2016 presidential election run so far, but a top choice for many evangelical voters, was highly critical of the Republican Party’s latest move to not take a stand for life. He maintains that Republican leaders in Congress made concessions on the ideals held dear to Party supporters — in order to get another item they wanted included in the passage of the bill.

“It was absolutely outrageous to see a whole litany of things, [included by House leadership in the spending bill] whether it was Planned Parenthood funding, funding for Syrian refugee relocation,[or a] 400-percent increase in bringing in foreign workers to replace Americans [in exchange for lifting the ban on exporting oil],” Huckabee contended, regarding the bill’s passage.

The former Baptist pastor argues that the Republican leaders in Congress refused to use their political advantage to fight for something dear to an overwhelming majority of Republican supporters.

“They were given four aces, and they laid their cards down before they even anted up for the game,” Huckabee concluded.

Stepping down from Fox to put in his bid as a contender for the Republican ticket in the 2016 presidential election, Huckabee has been a staunch pro-life supporter and has promised that if elected, he would passionately fight for preborn children’s right to life — and against federal funding of the abortion industry, including Planned Parenthood.
