At the 74th Golden Globe Awards, Hollywood legend Meryl Streep delivered the worst performance of her career, angering Donald Trump supporters — half the nation — as well as the NFL fans and MMA enthusiasts she threw under the bus.

Streep was feted for a Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award and instead of accepting the prestigious award graciously, she used her national air time to slam President-elect Trump by distorting his political positions. Streep went into a fact-free spiel painting our incoming president as anti-foreigner and anti-immigrant. Both of which are patently false. Trump and the more than 60-plus million Americans who voted for him know full well he supports legal immigration and has no problem with foreigners entering the country, provided they respect the rule of law.

But that’s not how Streep, an elitist Hollywood liberal, spun it to millions of viewers Sunday night.

“So Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners,” Streep said. “And if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts.”

But Trump isn’t going to kick out anyone who’s here legally, and secondly, what’s wrong with football? Perhaps Streep is too important to watch Monday Night Football or to enjoy the Super Bowl. Never mind that her fans — or former ones — do. Especially here in New England, when Tom Brady takes the field.

Then there’s the swipe she took at Mixed Martial Arts.

Streep insists the martial arts aren’t an “art.” I dare her to tell Conor McGregor that or explain how Hollywood raked in hundreds of millions off Bruce Lee’s martial arts movies for decades.

Streep scolded Trump for allegedly making fun of a disabled New York Times reporter during the campaign, but had nothing to say about the four black adults who were just charged with hate crimes and kidnapping in Chicago for torturing a disabled boy — while saying “(Expletive) Donald Trump,” and “(Expletive) white people.” That horror didn’t fit into Streep’s venomous, anti-GOP “political narrative.”

Nor, of course, did President Obama’s Special Olympics joke on the Jay Leno show in 2009.

With double standards like this, It’s no wonder voters turn a deaf ear to Hollywood elites election after election.

Bottom line: Meryl Streep should stick to acting, not political grandstanding, further dividing our country.

And what made me laugh about her speech.. When she went after MMA/
[“So Hollywood is crawling with outsiders and foreigners,” Streep said. “And if we kick them all out you’ll have nothing to watch but football and mixed martial arts, which are not the arts]

Lets just go over MMA for now.
    Total # of heavyweight fighters – 41.
    Total # NOT US – 25.
    That’s OVER 55% not american.

    Total # of light-heavy weights – 40
    Total # non US – 24.
    60% non american..

SO how can she say if we do away with all ‘foreigners’ in the country all we are left with is MMA and NFL.

I don’t watch the self-congratulatory awards any more because they have turned into liberls thump conservatives who any sort of values. Their lectures are old, ill-informed, and certainly do not relate to ordinary citizens working to make a living, watching free football instead of overpriced mediocre films, clutching thier guns instad of have boyguards, readin the Bible instead of the latest socialist claptrap, and trying to live environmental dictats instead of flying private jets around the world to see the sun set in all time zones or spend New Years Eve in Australia and the in Hollywood. I cringe when Michael Moore, a Canadian, list all of the faults of the United States he has cooked up.

BOYCOTT BOYCOTT BOYCOTT. it would be good if someone would do the research on who is who to boycott and who to send e mails to about this type of behaviors. It would also be a good reminder to remain vigilant and keeping the word going. Enough talking back and fourth and take action, you can bet that the other side is doing that. I for one do boycott I do spread the word and I stay vigilant, everyone counts and large numbers talk- make America great again.

She’s a has been. She and De Niro can keep their fame and movies. He’s a has been too. By the way, Hillary did not get more than half the popular vote either, as if it makes any difference. Which it doesn’t. Hollywierd is so bankrupt.

I will never understand why anyone pays the least bit of attention to the opinions of “celebrities”, as though their fame also empowers them with wisdom, knowledge, and insights that nature has denied us common folk. All of these awards programs are nothing more that self-aggrandizing, ego-driven love fests for those who are so far removed from real world realty as to have little or no idea what normal peoples’ lives are all about.

lummi, very well said!!! It always amazes me when I hear the media gushing about the drivel being spouted by these overpaid, shallow, egomaniacs. I agree with Mr. Trump’s statement that the actress is overrated. So many of them and actors are overrated. Unlike actors/actresses of days gone by, many of these “stars” don’t have to have acting ability because the special effects are the real star.

People would flip when I would buy bootleg DVD’s.

But I like ripping off this industry…and this is just one reason why.

My biggest reason against ‘bootleg dvds (etc”, is that its NOT just the stars you are gimping, but all the other people working in the film industry, AND are also more than likely funding a criminal group..

Don’t let Meryl Streep, or 99.99 percent of Hollywood’s actors go off script. They always manage to say something idiotic.

Who takes note of the otherwise clear evidence that it’s the already well-heeled Democractors, directors, producers, writers, and such like, who are the most vocal in their mostly irrational support for the Lefty-Loony narratives and Party-scripted denunciations of anybody/anything to the Right of Rosie O’Donnell! The up-and-coming folks, worried about attaining theirs, cautiously, and wisely, stay out of public politics. Look at the “champions” of the poor, the dispossessed, the oppressed, the outcasts, the sexually confused, and on and on who are so only because they proclaim themselves to be. Has Streep, or Moore, or Clooney, or Damon, or any of the self-righteous, sanctimonious, presenters of polemical diatribes, given over their fortunes, or even significant pieces of them, to directly help? Well? Just keep in mind, these are not “real people,” they’re actors, who both create and then live in a world of illusion and delusion. If we refused to give them any credibility by refusing them the attention they all so desperately seek and need, they’d fade to black.

I would THINK that Meryl streep should have the intelligence to realize that we have spported all movie actors only because of their entertaining skills! This was her very WORSE PERFORMANCE! I think that she should stick to reading other people’s words instead of her own! What’s this about HER being a outsider??!!I agree she’s acting like an outsider in her protests!Remember when she applauded Roman Polanski(rapist/director)on his accomplishments?I do not watch all the supercilious, ego award Hollywood; many entertainers and athletes are so impressed with themselves and with the influence they think they possess over us “the commoners”;however,we “commoners” pay our hard earned bucks to be entertained – NOT TO BE INSULTED!For Streep to grieve over hillary’s defeat is disgusting;with all the criminal evidence against the Democratic candidate, don’t liberals ever check and research the facts?Seems they condone dangerous national security crimes, robbing from all the people, Murder, racial violence, etc, etc! These “elitetists” forget they are where they are due to our support! Meryl Streep is added to my “NO LONGER SUPPORT NOR CARE FOR” List along with so many other entertainers/athletes that have selfishly used their time of GLORY by very openly proving themselves immature and unworthy of my support!! All these people are acting very UNAMERICAN protesting the election results! Mrs. Frankie Jim Bockman, Stockdale, TX
