There's normally little attention given regarding voter registration and high school children. However, even though most are not old enough to vote, a small number will reach eighteen before election day. With this in mind, one organization was given permission to set up voter registration drives within a school district. The only problem was that they were only supporting Democrats and giving pro-Obama speeches.
In this case, the Pasco County Schools in Florida agreed to let Organizing for America into a number of high schools and middle schools, all in the name of voter "education" and registration. For those of you who don't remember, Organizing for America was Barack Obama group that helped register Democrats leading up to the 2008 election. The group DEFINITELY has a partisan agenda.
As reported by Todd Starnes at Fox Radio, it's not the fact that this group was in the schools registering voters. What's troubling is that no Republican group was allowed to do the same thing. In addition, one volunteer was allowed to give pro-Obama speeches to the students.
According to email correspondence obtained by Fox News, volunteers tried to infiltrate at least three other school campuses - but on-campus officials rebuffed those efforts.
In addition to voter registration, a former teacher was allowed to deliver Obama speeches to a number of senior high school students.
"She got into six classrooms and gave pro-Obama speeches - like way off to the left," said James Mathieu, general counsel for the Pasco County Republican Party. "That got out to parents and parents complained."
Matthieu told Fox News he has filed a complained with the Florida Division of Elections and also contacted the Florida Attorney General's office.
Matthieu also noted the security concerns over what happened, saying, "some of the Organizing for America volunteers identified themselves to school officials as being with the local elections office."
Republican efforts to get equal time in front of the students have continually been blocked. Tampa Bay Online reports that "A Republican's off-again, on-again speaking engagement at Gulf High School is off - again."
The high school's plan to allow Republican state committeeman Bill Bunting to speak came after students at Gulf heard a partisan talk a few weeks ago from a supporter of President Barack Obama.
That supporter, a volunteer with Organizing for America, reportedly gained access to the school by claiming she was with the Pasco Supervisor of Elections Office and there to register students to vote.
In an effort to provide equal time, the school invited Bunting. The principal withdrew that initial invitation, but after Bunting complained the invitation was reinstated and he was to speak Monday.
But the school withdrew the second invitation Sunday on the advice of school board attorney Dennis Alfonso.
The reasoning behind Alfonso's advice is that since the women from Organizing for American lied when she said she was with the Pasco Supervisor of Elections Office and gave a partisan speech, that was a violation of school rules. Allowing Bunting to speak would be another violation.
What do you think? It's obvious that these Obama support groups will stop at nothing to get him reelected... even to the point of lying to gain access to high school children. Charges should be filed, and this woman should go to jail. Period.
