President Obama's speechwriters have to stop ripping off television slogans for their "big idea" themes. First it was years of Bob the Builders's "Yes, We Can!" And with apologies to GMC trucks, tonight's State of the Union address will usher in the buzzwords "Built to Last" to describe America.
Before Obama took the oath of office, America was so much more than a slogan and certainly more than Chevy tough.
Tonight will be the opening salvo of the Obama 2012 campaign, but the continuining saga of class warfare on parade. You know their theories already. Work is bad, government is good. People who make a lot of money are evil and their money should be restributed to someone who is not making a great deal of money just because. Small businesses, private companies are clearly doing something illegal, wrong and unethical versus government which is pure and virtuous.
Tonight, Obama will be the consummate snake oil salesman, selling a gullible America a whole laundry list of endless amounts of stuff that we will end up regretting later and saddling our kids and grandkids and great-grandkids with the bill for our impulsiveness.
Check out these talking points and ask yourself these questions --
1)Haven't you heard it all before from this guy and
2)Why exactly aren't you better off than you were four years ago and
3)Can America survive another drop of snake oil?
