The Obama Administration is "the largest gun running organization for the Mexican cartels."

By Kay Daly

NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre reacts to the Senate hearings on "Project Gunwalker" saying "this is what a Department of Justice coverup looks like."

Project Gunwalker was an ATF program to purchase guns in the United States and then take them across the border to Mexico -- ostensibly to identify gun running cartels -- but instead, since ATF agents had no jurisdictional law enforcement authority in Mexico, they had to merely watch guns by the truckloads head south. Conveniently, the Obama Administration would then claim that 90% of the guns used in crimes in Mexico were from the United States, opening up an avenue for additional gun control measures.

LaPierre went on to say that what the Senate hearings have revealed is that "the largest gun running organization to the Mexican cartels is.....the Obama Administration."

This is what I have been saying since the story first aired. This had to come from his office and I’m sure this was an idea that started with Obama. he is the most anti gun president ever. Along with his choices to fill his staff and cabinet. look at his new choice for heading the BATF Andrew Traver. The man is absolutely anti gun.
He even used trickery to try to prove that AK-47′s were inaccurate by giving an AK-47 to a small female reporter who had never fired a gun not to mention that it was fully automatic. As expected her shots were all over the place. If an experienced person fired that gun the shots would hit there intended target. These guns are very accurate in the hands of a competent shorter. If you don’t believe it ask this question. Why would there be so many in use and still being manufactured for dozens of armies world wide.
    IMPEACH OBAMA NOW! ! ! ! ! !
Anyone that openly biased has no buisness being the head of any agency. That is how we got to where we are now!

Evidently we have the “Administration” and the Atty. General by the short hairs in this latest cloak & dagger episode.
Why doesn’t Congress ramp up the investigations before people that are/were involved and people with knowledge of the operation start having fatal ”medical” problems or disappearing altogether?( Remember the Clintons and the Whitewater Scandal)
If this had been the Bush Administration the Soros’-owned media would be unrelenting in their round-the-clock coverage.
The players must all be named and the heads must roll, no matter how high up the ladder the evidence-trail leads!
Representative Issa, put your investigation into high gear, you are burning daylight!

I wonder how the Mexican government feels about this revelation. I realize they support Obama’s open-borders policies, but they can’t be happy about more guns in the hands of the drug dealers.
By the way, the Mexican government is really cracking down on illegal immigration along their southern border. The Guatemalans will work for less than the Mexicans. The Mexicans don’t like the competition for American jobs. I wish we would defend our southern border.

This is a typical anti-gunner end run.  Remember when Clinton wouldn’t enforce Federal laws involving use of a firearm?  The logic was to allow crime to increase to a point where the citizenry would demand more restrictions, then they’d have their mandate to start confiscating guns.
I don’t believe Mexico cares about where the guns come from — it’s been proven that less that 10% are American, most come from China and Russia.  Don’t forget, they teach classes to wetbacks on how to get through the fence/desert and how to apply for all the benefits once they’re here.  Here in Georgia we’re being sued for our new immigration law by them and other 3rd World Latin American countries for whom our dollars — either sent back by laborers or muled back by drug cartels — are a major source of their revenue.
We need to get Obummer locked in a closet so he can’t get away with anything.  Racist crooks like Holder, Geithner, Sebelius and the rest of his “progressive” entourage need to be investigated, handcuffed and either ousted or jailed.  Stay angry out there — remember, if the election’s not close, they can’t cheat!

It may have been devised to create a problem large enough to induce the Senate to look favorably on ratifying that U.N. treaty on small arms … the one that Hillary Clinton is said to have signed.

The BATF is a joke, For a veteran, just try to get a permit to purchase WW11 relics such as rifles, etc. Yet they sell modern firearms to the criminal drug cartels.Actually, BATF is a bad joke.

Obama and his administration think it is ok to give guns to the Mexican drug cartels.  He doesn’t want Americans to have guns.  Criminals should be given guns to kill law abiding citizens.  This is the thought process of the Democratic party.  Why not take away the criminals guns?  You know people like the Black Panther party?

    Where to start?
The ATF began Project Gunrunner as a pilot project in Laredo, Texas, in 2005 and expanded it as a national initiative in 2006, Under the Bush Administration, Not Obama’s.

While President Obama did not terminate this project, and I agree he should have, there are a few other Bush era projects and initiatives he’s working to terminate that costs way more lives.

I.E.,  The war in Iraq, The war in Afghanistan, etc. etc.

Entitling your piece   “The Obama Administration is “the largest gun running organization for the Mexican cartels.”"  while attention grabbing to your base, is just partisan polarization that lends nothing to the real issue; a poorly thought-out and executed ATF initiative thats costs lives for prosecutorial convenience.

I’m a member of the NRA and own a safe full of firearms, and defend my right to do so, as should we all.

The BATF, as some have commented above, is a joke. A very bad joke that impinges on the constitutional rights of Americans.
But then again, so is the DEA, the IRS and too many others to mention.

I’m not laughing at their form of humor.

It would appear that you have a few facts wrong, not surprising. I too, have read that a program concerning guns and Mexico was discussed under the Bush administration. However, by the admission of the ATF, the practice of allowing gun sales to known criminals to be taken to Mexico did not begin until late 2009.

From CBS News: ATF insiders being interviewed in Arizona are among those who told CBS News that their own agency employed a controversial strategy beginning in late 2009 called “letting guns walk,” to try to gather intelligence.
Sources and documents indicate the prosecutor who advised the “Fast and Furious” case in Phoenix was Asst. U.S. Attorney Emory Hurley. His boss, Arizona’s US Attorney Dennis Burke, was a longtime chief of staff for Homeland Security Chief Janet Napolitano when she served as Arizona governor.
Hmmm….that Napolitano supervisor doesn’t exactly sound like a Bush admin official either. The article goes on to name various Obama administration lackeys who are said to have been aware of and supportive of Gunrunner.

We do all know that Bush left office in January 2009, well before this project was activated in “late 2009″.
Now, doesn’t it seem just a little odd that an NRA supporter who owns “a safe full of firearms” is defending an administration who planned to use Gunrunner as an excuse for gun control in the United States. Just sayin’.

I’ve never seen any credible evidence that the Obama Administration “planned to use Gunrunner as an excuse for gun control in the United States.”

The Original operation began as a pilot project in Laredo, Texas, in 2005 and expanded it as a national initiative in 2006, Under the Bush Administration.  The “letting guns walk” component did in fact start under Obama, you’re correct about that.

Point being, it’s a bad situation that needs to end.  We should both agree on that!

Yes, I’m an NRA member and have the safe full of firearms, not that it has any relevance to any mythical  “plan to use Gunrunner as an excuse for gun control in the United States.”

davedragon, what other reason do think they would allow guns to cross the border and disappear. It sure wasn’t a plan to build a case because when the guns cross the border they were not seen again till they were used to kill people. Obama has always been anti gun and so have all the people he has placed into positions at the Justice Dept., the BATFE and FBI.
I absolutely don’t believe you are an NRA member as even they have put it in writing that they believe that those guns were allowed to cross the border to justify more gun laws and to demonize and confiscate guns.
Yes it is a bad situation and Holder and any other member of the Justice Dept. needs to go to jail. I would not be surprised if this went all the way to OBAMA as his top adviser Valerie Jarret is also anti gun.
