President Obama, with many critical issues piled up on his plate, will none-the-less come to New York City today to address the National Action Network founded by Rev. Sharpton.
I first heard of Sharpton in 1988 due to the rape allegations made by Tawana Brawley against Steven Pagones. It was then that Sharpton jumped into the controversy with both feet and earned himself a good deal of notoriety at the same time (case summary here).
I am sure that this will be repeated ad nauseum over the next year and change, but given the economic straits the country finds itself in and the conflicts around the world that we are involved in, couldn't the President find a better use for his time and our money!
