If there were any high hopes of significant changes in policy direction from the Obama Administration, the latest rumor as to who might fill Rahm Emanuel's Chief of Staff boots at the White House signals that Obama fully intends to drive leftward, quite unabated.
Get a load of this. William J. Daley, as in the Chicagoland smoke-filled back room political doubledealing dynasty Daleys (not to be confused with the conservative Dalys who spell their names correctly), is rumored to be under consideration for a top spot in the Obama White House.
Daley has been toiling at JP Morgan, land of bailout billions. Guess we know how that deal worked out for JP Morgan. The thought is that Daley could bring a "pro-business" element to what has been called an "anti-business" Administration. To attempt to further their policy ends, the worker bees in Obamaland have been studying how the Reagan Administration structured their public relations efforts and successfully got their agenda through Congress.
So it will be just like Rahm Emanuel never left. Minus the cursing, perhaps.
One has to wonder how Obama explains the last election. To anyone remotely intellectually honest, the 2010 election results signalled the complete rejection of Obama's policies. Clearly he hasn't internalized the election results in the least to even consider the foolhardy notion of continuing virtually uninterrupted down the path of economic destruction.
Replacing Emanuel with Daley will be the icing on the cake for the 2012 election cycle. The fact that Obama's ego knows no bounds may be America's saving grace.
