Default 60 Plus leader: Senior 'tsunami' coming

By Stephen Dinan

After years of Republicans taking shots for proposing changes to Medicare and Social Security, the tables have turned and now "it's payback time," said James L. Martin, president of the 60 Plus Association.

Mr. Martin, who runs the conservative seniors group, said Democrats' health care plan "scares the bejabbers out of seniors," adding that Democrats and AARP, which endorsed their plan, will face a "senior citizen tsunami."

"It's flooding toward the halls [of Congress]. Unless it does subside, I think you're going to see some real pain at the polls, if you will, come November 2010," he said. "Seniors have long memories, and they're concerned about this issue."

My husband and I quit AARP years ago because we discerned that their left-leaning agenda did not have the best interests of seniors at heart.

I recently joined 60 plus. Even though membership is free I sent them a donation to help them fight for seniors.

I can't understand why any senior would stay with AARP. Perhaps as the news of their support of this monstrosity of a health bill becomes more wide know, AARP will become the smaller of the 2 organizations.
I hope.

I'm afraid irreversible damage will be done by then......

There's a Christian national group, too, that claims they have insurance as cheap or cheaper than AARP. Can't remember the name of it anymore, though.

Really? I'd like to find some of them. Every elder that I know is still trying to figure out when their "golden years" will begin. They're all really busy with one thing and another. I do know there are some who seem to spend all their time in bingo parlors and playing the nickel machines in the casino but I think most are busy with volunteering and baby-sitting their grandkids.

I'll tell ya something. The seniors are not the only ones that are going to lead a 'tsunami' in the upcoming months if this bill goes to the President. Those young folks that "wanted change", and feel that they don't need health insurance are in for a very unpleasant surprise.

I wonder how many of them will be chanting for change afer that?

Maybe this will help wake them up to what they really did to the country last November.
