Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
By Michael Reagan
November 5, 2009
One year ago Barack Obama turned the political establishment upside down with a resounding national election that, according to so-called experts, spelled the end of influence and legitimacy for the GOP for years, perhaps decades to come. However, a mere 12 months later, Republicans have dramatically turned around their fortunes with two high-profile gubernatorial victories in Virginia and New Jersey -- both by comfortable margins.
In Virginia, Republicans won the top three offices (Governor, Lt. Governor, and Attorney General) in Virginia by sweeping margins. Republican Bob McDonnell won the gubernatorial race by a shattering 17 percent margin over Democrat Creigh Deeds.

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
Michael one year ago a huge groupe of idiots and a few missguided souls went to the poles believing the crap the had heard from the (one) CHANGE well they got change and now they have awakened and realise it aint the change this country needs or wants. I would love very much if obama and his cohorts are so unhappy with this country and our values they should find a country whose values they like and move to said country and never come back, if the republicans had followed Sara Palins advice and supported the independent instead of the dem in repub. clothing they would have won new york too. it is time for some new leadership in the republican party. some one who can tell the difference between a rino and a republican,

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
Republicans didn't do this alone, there were a LOT of Independents (some former Republicans who are re-registered as Independents) Constitution Party members, Conservative Party members and even some Democrats who are disgusted with what their party has become. It's about the only way in which we have anything in common with Democrats!!
I don't care how or why it happened, I only like the results. I am still "steamed that the national Republican Party endorsed and funded that damn RINO in NY23. They lost that race and that's the long and short of it...........no credibility at all as far as I'm concerned.

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
An important point to reemphasize from the article: we can not rest on our laurels until 2010. We must stay diligent, and also hope that both Christie and McDonnell follow through with their campaign promises. It would be very damaging, especially in NJ, if Christie isn't able to clean up that mess, and he's got lots working against him, specifically this miserable economy that may get much worse. We need to shake the bushes and find candidates that are fiscally Conservative and pro Constitution in order to get this country back on track. And we've got to continually remind the Dems that we are onto their games, and their jobs are in peril.

I honestly believe this puts a monkey wrench in the machine. Oboma I think... needed these governors because his ultimate goal is to change the constitution to fit his socialist vision. Where the government makes all your decisions, from what you eat to what you think. Complete control of everything. he is not just a narcissist he is also quite delusional.

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
I hope that the repub party has learned this lesson from these elections.
Don't support liberal RINO's. Select candidates that are really conservative.
Hoffman is conservative and even as an independent, he was stomping on the repub backed liberal.
Conservatives can and do win elections, when it is obvious that there is a difference between them and the dims.
Wake up republican party leaders!!!

I would be happy to build the boat. Hope nobody minds if it leaks a wee bit.
Ladyframer, we must not rest on our laurels at all, not in 2010, not in 2012, not even in 2020. The day we rest dear friend, is the day that the enemies our our country will put in another group as evil as the ones in there now if not worse.
The price of liberty is Eternal Vigilance.

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
The only thing I can disagree with in Reagan's piece is that he's allowing the left to define itself. They're not progressive, they're regressive avowed leftists/socialists/communists.
Hopefully, the GOP leadership (or lack thereof) is getting the message. Read this morning that Cornyn now says that NRSC funds won't be directed to Crist in Fla after all. They'll only be directed to the winner of the primary. That's good news since I earlier read that it was the NRCC that directed the NY-23 GOP to select Scuzzy.
As others have pointed out, we must remain vigilant. We must also start replacing these nitwit 'leaders' at all levels with increased participation, starting at the local level. We know economics trickle down but leadership trickles up.

And we need to continue the fight to drive the Big-Government, Big-Spending Socialists and liberal, left-wing idiots and RINO's out of government and take "The One" with them.
This nation cannot afford the destructive policies of moral decline, decline of social values, destructive fiscal policies and the pure evil of this PUKISH administration and all those who whorship at the throne of this band of devils.
Abandon "Health-Care Reform" and "Tax and Trade(Tax) and drive the bums out who support these destructive policies.

Re: Reagan: What A Difference A Year Makes!
Well said, C-LIV!!
Republicans have to remember that tax cuts only work up to a point. You have to CUT SPENDING!
I received an e-mail from my Dem Senator, Herb Kohl, telling me of this wonderful program and it will only cost $1.5 M I fired back a reply asking why he was coming up with more spending. I received an answer that this was such a wonderful program and it will do everything but the dishes, I guess.
They WILL NOT understand. IF YOU HAVE NO MONEY YOU MUST STOP SPENDING!!
