Default Ibbetson: Where's Your Grit?

By Paul A. Ibbetson
November 2, 2009

America, where is your character, your pluck, your grit? If that question seems overly harsh and needlessly aggressive, then you are staring directly at the problem. This nation sits at the precipice of a fundamental, irreversible transformation that will make all too visible a new country that is incontrovertibly "one nation under a spineless, politically correct, brow-beaten, emasculated bunch of sheep." Is that too harsh? If you believe my words are too offensive, that I should tone it down, possibly give contemplation to all opposing views from every potential angle, if not every position within the cosmos, then, you're actually staring at the real problem.

At a time when the country is faced with an administration that wishes to transform this country into a completely socialistic nation, Americans appear to be dangerously low on grit. Some would counter the statements I have posited, as to the lack of American character in an obvious time of need, with the examples of the growing number of Americans that are participating in town halls, and the growing TEA (Taxed Enough Already) Parties. I applaud and participate in these events with great spirit and enthusiasm; however, they will not be the final weapon to defeat the forces that truly wish to destroy this nation.

Great article, Mr. Ibbetson! Here's my favorite part:

Quote:
In this struggle for the short term survival of the nation, as well as our place within history, I must admit a more than ample amount of animosity at the predicament we find ourselves in as a nation, including the timidity by many to provoke our enemies to anger - even while we are battling with these same foes for the future of all we hold dear. Has the quest for individual character, moral value and spiritual salvation been permanently replaced with the need to acquiesce to moral relativism, atheism, and the will of the group collective? I pray that this is not so, while knowing full well that if we as a nation were in proper form, there would be little concern about the few who would be offended by a nation that quests for the divine while denying the alternative, socialist bonds.

Well said - now how do we fix it? We are trying, a baby-step at a time, while a herd of anti-Americans are stampeding over, through, and around us. I do hope baby-steps will work and if it does I will consider it Divine intervention, nothing short of a miracle!!

AMEN...AMEN...AMEN!!

We've been taught that it is not polite to argue politics in polilte society. Political correctness was ushered in with barely a whimper..... "Let's celebrate cultural diversity!"...the do-gooder battle cry from the left. Multiculturalism run rampant in the schools and on college campuses. It all screams "Look at our wonderful differences" as they tear apart a community a claim it as their own: Dearborn Michigan.

Evil has been busy for a long time in the USA.

Some of us are awake now, thanks to people like Glenn Beck that unabashedly loves this country and wants to retain our liberty. It's even out of style these days to be patriotic, and quite politically correct to bash American at every opportunity. But there are lots of us that are doing everything we can to take it back from those who wish to destroy it. But we are in desperate need of a leader to speak for us. Maybe it's time for two women like Michele Bachmann (R_MN) and Sarah Palin to step up to the plate. God only knows the leadership in the GOP are stinking up the place, and will soon be broke other than big corporate money...people like me are refusing to donate any longer. How long will it take before they get a clue?

Welcome to Nancy. Just keep on with what you're doing and talk a few more people into joining you.

Do the Tea Parties and rallies and keep on calling and e-mailing your congresscritters. It has to make them nervous . If enough of us do that I do believe they'll think we really mean it.

We haven't been known for taking to the streets but I think our time has come.

Long live the United States of American!

First Paul, I want to thank you for your good word, here and elsewhere.

So, here's my question to you or anyone else reading this--precisely, and specifically, what is it that you see Constitutional American's need to be doing to show their grit? If the tea parties, a march on Washington, and 4 million pink slips to congress are insufficient, then what?

I ask this, not to be contentious, but because there are legal, non violent avenues we use in this country to affect political change...ballots, writing representatives, contributions, demonstrations, and the like. A non-violent coup or attempted coup ever four years.

Now, if that is not enough for now..then what? One big danger is that the process will become corrupted and untrusted due to fraud or foreign influence.

But for now, what?

God bless

RayRay....you quoted Lincoln's "House Divided" line and applied it to the GOP.

For me, its always been instructive to consider the rest of Lincoln's statement:

"In my opinion, it will not cease, until a crisis shall have been reached, and passed.

"A house divided against itself cannot stand."

I believe this government cannot endure, permanently half slave and half free.

I do not expect the Union to be dissolved -- I do not expect the house to fall -- but I do expect it will cease to be divided.

It will become all one thing or all the other."

To me, that is the answer for the GOP, and ultimately America as well...we cannot be both lawless and Constitutional; both immoral and stable; both responsible and promoting theft.

We need to determine to become all one thing or the other and move in that direction.

Being a constitutional republic would be a great place to start.

My two cents.
