Message to Republican Leaders: Get a Clue!
Bobby Eberle
The Loft at GOPUSA
There are certain times in the cycle of politics when the party in power is so bad that the opposition doesn't need to do much to win. In 1994, the approval ratings for Congress were terrible. Republicans, led by Newt Gingrich, put together the Contract with America, and presented a strong, conservative message to the voters. In that election year, not a single Republican incumbent lost, and the Republican Revolution began.
Now, Republicans face similar opportunities. Led by Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, these ultra left-wing radical want to transform the country (Obama's words) into a socialist nation, complete with government control over health care, banks, the auto industry, and more. So... how are Republican leaders responding? A recent Rasmussen poll shows that Republican voters don't like what they are seeing, and recent actions by the Republican Party show that they don't have a clue on how to turn this country around.

Re: Message to Republican Leaders: Get a Clue!
I was an avid Republican until George Bush's second term. Both he and many in the Party seemed to turn to mush and cave in to the Democrats on too many issues.
I now consider myself a Conservative. If the Republican party doesn't return to its core principles then maybe we need to support a Conservative party.

How is the Republican Party establishment responding to all of this? Well... first we have speech after speech by Republican leaders saying how we need to "broaden our message" to "reach more people." I have heard a number of these speeches, and they never touch on the fact that we simply need to do a better job of sticking to our conservative positions and education Americans on what those positions are.

At least Bobby gets it. Thanks for not bashing Newt. Given his druthers, I believe Newt would support Hoffman too, but I wish he's get up and say we need more conservative leaders in the GOP.

you leave the GOP because there are no conservative leaders, the country will elect democraps over and over. Not cuz they are more popular, but because they have both DINOs and dimcompoops.

No more voting or supporting straight rep. party line. From now on, my money goes to the individual candidate, so they don't have to share it with the idiots in the RNC or RNCC. What a bunch of trolls. I did like Michael Steele until he became head of the RNC, and showed his true colors.

As far as Newt goes, he lost me when he threw his support to Scumbagfavva. He is no different than any of the others.

Re: Message to Republican Leaders: Get a Clue!
We could surely do worse than having Sarah Palin, Fred Thompson and Dick Armey recommend our candidates for us. Who the heck is that candidate in New York and how did she ever get that far in any Republican campaign.
I swear the leaders of the Republican party will endorse anyone with a pulse who shows an interest in running under their banner....the GOP as it is currently being run is less than useless, it's a ridiculous abomination!!

From my post on Patton's article:

Newt is supporting whoever the candidate for the GOP is because that is our party. I would prefer Hoffman too, but now with 2 candidates on the "right" the democrat will win. It's New York's problem, they have moderate GOP party leaders that chose to support the RINO instead of the true conservative. If you notice, the democraps don't have a "bluedog" democrat (DINO) and a democrat in the race. They understand by nature that collectivism in the party is the only way to win elections.

Re: Message to Republican Leaders: Get a Clue!
Waht's it going to take to wake up the GOP 'leaders'? We've already starved them of money to a large degree. What we need to do now is get involved in our local GOP organizations and get rid of these nincompoops who are herding the party into extinction.
Obviously, 73% of us know the right direction the GOP should be taking. Let's head the 'moderate' faction (they must be the 15% in that poll) to the back of the room and take charge. That's what we've been doing here in Florida with organizations such as Resistnet and are close to forcing RINO Charlie Crist out of the senate race.
BTW, My Man Newt, your man endorsed Scozzafava. You might want to consider changing your monicker.

Re: Message to Republican Leaders: Get a Clue!
We ran Bob Dole who was a good man but he was not a Ronald Reagan and we lost.
We ran John McCain who is not a conservative by any means and we lost.
This woman in NY is not a conservative and will lose.
The republican party is going to lose a lot of money from people like me who will not give money to a party that is led by a non-conservative such as is Mr Steele.
We ask for and I think we now demand the republican party change course and turn into the conservative party we once knew when RR was the leader. I have been a republican since I first registered in 1968 and voted for Barry Goldwater but things have changed and I may change to the conservative party if the leaders of the RNC can't get a clue.
