Administration launches immigration crackdown
By SUZANNE GAMBOA
Associated Press
July 2, 2009
WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Obama administration launched investigations of hundreds of businesses around the country Wednesday as part of its strategy to focus immigration enforcement on the employers who hire illegal workers.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement has begun notifying businesses of plans to audit their I-9 forms -- employment eligibility documents that employers fill out for every worker -- the agency told members of Congress in an e-mail Wednesday.

Nothing but more BS, just like the Bush administration on this issue.

Yeah. How are they supposed to know who really owns 000-00-0000 or 123-45-6789./sarc

Employers want the rule of law. They want a level playing field, but it has to be combined with being able to get the workers they need in a legal, reliable way. That's what we are looking for in immigration reform," said Tamar Jacoby, president and CEO of ImmigrationWorks USA, a national group of employers who support immigration reform. The group wants lawmakers to craft immigration reform legislation that will make it easier for businesses to hire temporary workers.

Why? Why not just hire Americans and be done with it. What have American workers done to you that you feel the need to hire cheap foreign labor? Labour laws should support Americans before illegal aliens. I don't mind immigrants I, like many others, am descended from immigrants. Just go home and apply legally. It's tough to get in? It should be. America is only so big and our population is growing by leaps and bounds.

Re: Administration launches immigration crackdown; MORE BS from OBAMA.
MORE BS from another Administration that is pandering to Mexico's government--by saddling America's tax payers with Mexico's third world poverty problems and making sure Mexico's leaders can keep stealing the country's oil revenues that belong to the people, LA RAZA--An American based Mexican law group bent on destroying the US constitution, Corporate America--who wants illegal workers to keep American's wages suppressed at poverty levels, and the Democratic party--who is thinks that by giving away America to Mexican illegals they will control America's political machine. Boy will the be surprised when all of these illegal Mexicans are made citizens and they vote to make American part of Mexico and make their government the master of America. Don't believe me? Look at California and what is happening here. California is banckrupt because the Democrat controlled legislature has been spending and taxing Americans, Small Businesses and pandering to illegals to the point that we are now BROKE. No way to pay the bills when Americans keep leaving the state at record pace. Last year, we lost over 2000 American citizens a month, while we inherited 3000 illegals month. My county's biggest income producing resource is WELFARE (Tulare County). How does that strike you Bucky?

Re: Administration launches immigration crackdown
That's right Obama. Go after the big, bad businesses. Don't bother to go after the illegals walking the streets and taking American jobs or the terrorist drug gangs that are infiltrating our communities much like in Mexico!
Another knife in the back of Capitalists who are the boogie men in today's society.
Why not just turn more of the businesses over to the Unions and the crops over to the immigrants? After all isn't that what Chavez and the other Marxists are doing?

I had to really laugh when I saw this. Back a few years ago the company I worked for hired a young man and sent him to my department. I checked his SS number and thats exactly what he had 123-45-6789. After letting personnel know that they didn't do a very good job, they let him go. He was back 3 days later with what looked like a legal SSAN. The reason it didn't take long was there was a house in town where you could buy one for $50.
All they have to do is require all employers to use the E-verify program. The question should be, why don't they enforce the E-verify program?
