A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
By Thomas D. Segel
March 21, 2009
Along with countless other Americans, I find it extremely difficult to tune in the television news accounts of congressional leaders finger pointing at corporate executives. If they had any integrity worthy of salvation, all members of Congress would resign their seats and leave Washington in disgrace. A harsh statement you say! Well, examine what is taking place in our country from this perspective -- fiduciary responsibility.
Every person we elect to office, from members of the city council to the President of the United States is an individual we have entrusted with the power to handle our financial and legal affairs for the benefit of the people. These are called the designated person's fiduciary responsibilities. Should that person or body, through neglect, illegality, or any form of betrayal misuse the office in a manner that causes loss or harm to those who placed the person in the position of trust, actions can...and should be taken.

Re: A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
Former President Truman had on his desk a plaque saying "The Buck stops Here." Now it is time for the voters to feel the same and finally, I believe that is what they are trying to do.

Re: A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
Congressmen or Senators with integrity?
Could somebody please name one?
I used to think that Orrin Hatch and Kay Bailey Hutchison had it but now I begin to doubt even them.
We need a serious cleaning out of congress and the senate voting out any of them who are in office over the next six years. Hopefully enough people are disgusted with them by now.
Lets see how much integrity they have.
Chuck Schumer, Barney Frank, Greg Walden, Ron Wyden and the list goes on. Look at how much damage you people have done in just a few months. Should we trust you for the next even 46 months? Get real!
I call on all of you to resign or fall on your swords. The country will be far better off without you.
May God have mercy on our country for being so foolish as to vote in such morons.

I agree there aren't many centurian, but maybe this is one:
Sen. Gregg says Obama budget will bankrupt US - AP
WASHINGTON – The top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee says the Obama administration is on the right course to save the nation's financial system.
But Sen. Judd Gregg of New Hampshire also says President Barack Obama's massive budget proposal will bankrupt the country.
Gregg says he has no regrets in withdrawing his nomination to become commerce secretary. He pulled out after deciding he could not fully back the administration's economic policies.
The senator said Obama's spending plan in the midst of a prolonged recession would leave the next generation with a country too expensive to live in.
Gregg appeared Sunday on CNN's "State of the Union."

Sorry, BHO uses the Bart Simpson motto of: "I didn't do it!".

Re: A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
Thank You Grayjack. I'm glad to know that there are a few still out there.
Folks,
Ya'll might not see me for a while. I checked into the emergency room night before last with a shoulder pain and was admitted a few hours later. Doctors have not yet ruled out a heart attack but my enzymes are just what they should be meaning no damage to my heart. I was released last night at about 7.
I'm scheduled for stress tests tomorrow and Wednesday. I need to knock off and rest again.

This article makes a great point. I believe we need to reinstate term limits. That would help to excoriate corruption from the government.

Prayers for good news Centurion.
Wisconsin has one, too, Rep. Paul Ryan. Actually Sensenbrenner is pretty good, too, but he likes junkets too well. I think it makes him vulnerable. He isn't afraid to stand up all by himself, though, against or for any program.

Re: A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
Ditto the prayers for Centurian. Hope it's bursitis or a crick in the neck.
No Senate good guys in Arkansas, they're both Dems. My meager financial support goes to Sarah Palin.

Agreed, right? But thinking out loud here, what if we could find a way to nail those who betray conservative principles and the best interests of America (those two are the same aren't they?) by rewarding the good guys? And I'm talking about an organized effort on the national level, structured so that it would appeal to many and attract the maximum publicity, maybe through a coordinated information flow and exchange with our great conservative radio hosts, like Rush, Hannity etc.
I'm speaking above my pay grade here, because all I've got is the nub of an idea and I'm not near smart enough to flesh it out, but I don't need to be, we have some real sharpshooters here on the Forum who can figure out what I can't. But it sure sounds good, doesn't it? Not only would we be giving aid and encouragement to those who represent our values, but the moderates and RINOs who don't, would also get a message.
Just a thought.

Re: A Nation Of Fiduciary Neglect
Thanks for the prayers everybody.
I finished the second of two stress tests yesterday. My heart rhytm looks fine but I still have a numb, tingling left arm. I shall be contacting my own doctor and making the trip to Eugene so that we can get the problem sorted out.
I do feel much better today than I did yesterday. Since Sunday night, I've only been able to sleep in small bits of an hour to an hour and a half due to the pain. Last night, I actually slept from about 1030 to five this morning. So much for my "rest" of Spring Break eh? I'm just glad that it did not happen during my classes.
