Default Segel: More Jobs Needed? Well, Enforce Immigration Laws!

By Thomas D. Segel
March 6, 2009

Not having the benefit of Washington D.C. wisdom, I may not be smart enough to figure out a very economical way to improve the job market for Americans. However, as an average guy living next to the USA-Mexico border I do have some grasp of the situation. As succinctly as it can be said -- If the federal government did its job of securing our border and removing illegal aliens from the workplace, there would be an abundance of employment openings.

The old worn-out line that illegal aliens only take job that Americans won't do, just doesn't fly any longer. Last month the Immigration and Customs Enforcement Service (ICE) raided a Bellingham, Washington engine rebuilding plant and removed 28 illegal workers. The raid had hardly faded from the news cycle before American workers were lining up for the vacant positions.

Mr Segel:

You are right on, here in NC former Senator Dole worked with local law enforcement to implement the ICE program - long on the books, but never promoted by Washington. She was extremely successful and law enforcement, long hamstrung by the pc rules they continually must work under, were trained and very successful actually getting over 3000 illegal, "repeat offenders" onto the deportation train. That is 3000 illegal immigrates that were killing jobs for our NC workers and killing our citizens on the highways and byways of our fair state while illegally and criminally driving illegally gotten motor vehicles. And then ICE came to NC raiding a well -known chicken processing plant, one of those so called jobs real Americans (US citizens) refuse to do. Glory be!! I read, not too long ago, that the chicken processor is up and running again with legal NC,s "manning the ship", and that they have voted in a Union to negotiate for them and protect their "right to work". (Take note all you Union organizers and supporters of the Lib's and their policies: instead of putting so much time into card-check legislation, your bread might just be buttered better by supporting the "Real American Worker").

Your article promotes a rational and reasonable response to our current economic crisis to the like-minded citizen worker: however, to this Administration it is unthinkable because their words do not speak their true agenda - it's their actions and the legislation that's passed that spells out their mind-set.

Well as you know Senator Dole was defeated and her "Demi" replacement has critcized her support of this highly effective program because of, you guessed it, the current day "pc-rules" and racial profiling.

Now, I read, that Ms. Nepolitano has ICE under review, stating that the policy and program is questionable and critisized for its (again you guessed it), racial profiling aspects (the ultimate pc rule). This program under this administration will bite the dust, Mr. Segel, the border fence will not be finished as a ''make work project", and illegals will be given amnesty. So much for the American Dream for "Legal" Americans like Bobby Jindal's parents and all of the "born and raised" here Americans (God help my wonderful "bakers dozen" grandchildren, who are already suffering in Mi. because of the demise of the American auto industry).

If you haven't already you need to check out 'Numbers USA'. I agree wholeheartedly with Mr. Segel and here is another step in straightening the twisting maze of government. Either cut or reduce Welfare to a point that once the illegal workers are removed, and justice for the American workers is served, people on Welfare will be forced to take a job. I find it rather ironic that hard working American citizens have to take drug tests to attain and maintain work, yet people recieving aid from the government (paid for by the hard working American citizens) do not have to take a drug test to recieve that aid. It might even inspire some patriotism and thoughts on capitalism that hitherto has not been seen concerning 'spread the wealth'.
