Towery: Bush Letter Disproves One Myth, Hints at Others
By Matt Towery
January 14, 2009
It has been basically a known fact among the media that George W. Bush does not care for reading newspapers or the barrage of opinion columns that now seem omnipresent in this age of the Internet media. I really can't blame him.
So when in early December I wrote a "Dear Mr. President" for my national Creators Syndicate column about what a great First Lady Laura Bush has been, I did so noting that it was merely a vehicle for making my point. After all, Bush doesn't read media, right?
Wrong. Really wrong. Last week, I received a handwritten letter from President Bush expressing his thanks.

Even if Mr. Towery shouts it from the mountain tops, he won't convince his colleagues.

It is up to the president to choose competent people who will be on the ball and give hiim reliable information.
President Bush is an honorable man who, if he likes people, tends to believe what they tell him (as witness V. Putin).
That he wrote a letter of thanks to Towery doesn't surprise me, having read of his letters to the families of our fallen military.
The Left loves to portray Republicans as being dumb. They found out differently after Reagan developed Alzheimers and his letters came out and they'll find out the same when Bush is long out of the public eye.
BTW, Towery really should know by now that FEMA was not a first responder. That was always typically left to local and state sources. Just one more way for the government to take over. It's just easier to blame the pres, (or his people) I guess.

Read newspapers, Why? Not that there is ever truth in them.

Re: Towery: Bush Letter Disproves One Myth, Hints at Others
Thank you Mr. Towery for taking a step back and taking a fresh look at President Bush. It is still an act that most MSM writers/commentators wont do because they are so caught up in their hatred of him. As stereotyped by Mike Wallace, Sr., they still think that he is unintelligent, incurious, "lacks gravitas", and is unfit to be POTUS.
They hate him even more because:
1. He doesn't care what they think.
2. He is not a Washington insider.
3. He is smarter than they are.
4. He got better grades than John Kerry.
5. His fractured syntax belies his intelligence.
6. He followed the rules on Katrina instead of having the federal government muscle state and local governments out of the way. The Katrina failures started at the bottom and worked their way up, no the other way around.
FEMA was not instituted to be a quick response team. It was meant to be an agency that facilitated in the rebuilding of affected areas. His weakness was in not pointing this out to the DemoNazis who demonized him for Katrina.
7. He is a kind individual. His unwillingness to rise to the liberal taunts and slanders infuriates them.
Once again, thanks.

Re: Towery: Bush Letter Disproves One Myth, Hints at Others
I am glad that at least one person in the media realizes Bush was not responsible for 99% of the things he was blamed for by the rabid, biased press out for conservative blood, and the corrupt socialists masquerading as Dimocraps. He was too easy as a scapegoat.
Every time I picked up a paper to read, all I was reading was Bush Bad, Conservatives Bad, Republicans Bad, Bush Bad, over and over again to where it became a running joke between myself and my neighbors about what Bush would be blamed for next, such as a cold front or the coffee not being hot enough at McDonalds, it was all Bush’s fault, according to the media.
While he was not nearly as conservative as I expected him to be and did make a few policy blunders along the way, at least he did keep us safe from terrorist harm on his watch. I truly fear that will not be the case with the new incoming regime.
