Default Democrats seek criminal probe of Bush 'abuses'

By LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press
January 13, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) -- The incoming Obama administration should launch a criminal investigation of Bush administration officials to see whether they broke the law in the name of national security, a House Democratic report said Tuesday. President-elect Barack Obama has been more cautious on the issue and has not endorsed such a recommendation.

Along with the criminal probe, the report called for a Sept. 11-style commission with subpoena power, to gather facts and make recommendations on preventing misuse of power, according to the report by the Democratic staff of the House Judiciary Committee.

The report covers Bush administration policies that Democrats have protested for some time. Among them: interrogation of foreign detainees, warrantless wiretaps, retribution against critics, manipulation of intelligence and political dismissals of U.S. attorneys.

A new perspective: It is apparently a crime to save hundreds of thousands of American lives as well as protecting the innocents overseas. Granted, Bush allowed the prosecution of innocent Amercans(Campean and Ramos) but on the scales of right versus wrong, the right he did far outweighs his mistakes.

Good morons, Investigate President Bush because you won't find any thing. You can investigate the President with the understanding that the Republicans are empowered to investigate Barney Fwank and Christopher Dodd with supena power! I'd put Mark levin and Ann Coulter in charge of the investigation.

Sounds good to me, I've been asking my Senators and Congressman to bring these people up in front of a hearing since all this started

Great! This will be another Democrat staffed and led committee witth subpoena power that will investigate every Republican that they have a beef with. Conyer's and Waxler's hatred of conservative Republicans is palpable and can only serve to poison the relationship between the two parties even more than it is now.

The investigations will serve as a smoke screen for the massive program of graft and corruption that Obamavich, Pelousy, and Reid are in the process of jamming down the throats of all who object. What the Dems are about to do will come to be recognized as the largest misuse of public money since Congress's theft of the Social Security Fund.

I still want to know why the Congressional Republicans haven't demanded and gotten investigations of Frank, Dodd, Cuomo, Raines, and Johnson for their parts in the collapse of the large commercial banks and mortgage industry.

As much as I abhor what PEBO is trying to pull off, I am equally dismayed at the absence of Republican leadership. Where are their voices telling America that this massive infusion of freshly printed money will do anything other than increase the national debt and weaken the dollar.

Everyone is going to suffer. The DemoNazis will then say that the poor are suffering disproportionately and tax those of us who still pay taxes at even higher rates. I'm really pissed.

Republicans are the minority. The minority does not control subpoena power.

Remember in 2006 when so many grassroots conservatives were claiming that there would be no difference if the Republicans were in the minority? Well, they were wrong.

Elections have consequences.
