Blankley: Being President 101
By Tony Blankley
January 7, 2009
With two weeks still left in President-elect Barack Obama's transition and because of the alleged corrupt conduct of several people in his proximity and his own passivity and public silence (and the inherent drama of current events), his has become the most dramatic presidential transition in memory.
The phrase "No Drama Obama" was born March 12, 2008, when retired Air Force Gen. Merrill McPeak, who was campaigning for Obama, labeled him "No Shock Barack, No Drama Obama." It is fair to say that this useful and rhyming campaign slogan finally and formally was laid to rest last Sunday, when -- after weeks of Illinois transition opera bouffe and colorful Caroline Kennedy Senate-snatching efforts -- Obama's designated commerce secretary, Bill Richardson, withdrew his name one step ahead of a New Mexico grand jury.

But my views notwithstanding, given Obama's intentions, his first gratuitous words (in Israel) followed now by his loud silence seem rather obviously destined to undercut his own intentions. If he intends to shrewdly lead the world, he should understand that images of him golfing in Hawaii while saying nothing as Palestinians are being bombed to death are going to be both seen and condemned in the Middle East, which he aspires to lead to better days.

Since Golf is the official RELIGION of South Florida, and Many Elderly People of the Jewish Faith here voted for Obama because of pressure from their liberal children, I find this rather Ironic.
It will be a sad thing if the great grandchildren of these voters have NO ISRAEL to visit because of their unwise choices.

And the liberal left thought BHO was great. Wonder just how soon "buyers remorse" will take to set in? Mr. "Empty Suit" is about to make a monumental blunder and it will cost the US dearly. Any takers on just how long we will survive? For those who voted for Mr. "Empty Suit", beware....your day is coming.

Re: Blankley: Being President 101
I was under the impression that we currently have a President - Obama IS NOT the president yet. He cannot just push George Bush aside and take control yet. I don't recall President Bush assuming the duties of the presidency until he took the oath of office, and Bill Clinton vacated the premises. This outcry for this particular incoming president is amazing. He is being blamed for everything before he even officially begins this job. Relax, there will be four years for all of the complaints and I told you so's to take place. It appears that this author cannot wait to see Obama fail. It is amazing. Maybe he should have run for president, since he knows it all

Re: Blankley: Being President 101
Ah, but Mr. Degree, President -Elect Obama had PLENTY to say about OTHER issues (the economy, bailouts, other foreign policy issues, etc) before taking office. That is why his silence on THIS PARTICULAR ISSUE is so deafning. If he had patiently and quietly waited his turn, as you are suggesting, then this would not be so patently OBVIOUS!
Before going to hawaii, even OBAMA SUPPORTERS in the media were complaining that it seemed as if we had "Two Presidents", remember???????????? ?

Re: Blankley: Being President 101
Quick question, as I am confused by some of the statements in your article Tony.
Are you saying Obama should be making the same statements calling for restraint like the Bush Administration is doing? Bush has been doing this for 8 years, and look at the results. The same thing keeps happening over and over again.
The only way to resolve this is to turn Israel loose and let them do what needs to be done.
If we had no laws here, and had a neighbor shelling our family and home with rockets and bombs, not many Americans would leave that neighbor's house more than a smoking ember, rightfully so.
Keeping quiet may actually be the best thing Obama can do, as opening his mouth would show what an inexperienced boob he is.
