Default Democrats redo House rules, end GOP influence

By LARRY MARGASAK
Associated Press
January 7, 2009

WASHINGTON (AP) -- Majority Democrats rewrote House rules Tuesday on the first day of the new Congress to wipe out the small sliver of influence that minority Republicans finessed to win small victories on gun rights, immigration and an investigation of gasoline prices.

Democrats passed the bill over Republican objections, 242-181 on a mostly party-line vote.

Republicans in the last Congress were able to achieve small victories -- often only temporarily -- by clever use of House rules. Republicans would seek to send bills back to a committee to add provisions that often were unrelated to the wider bill, but which were popular enough to gain some Democratic rank-and-file support. Democrats had to withdraw such bills to prevent that from happening.

Well GOP, this is the thanks we get for being fair to the Democrats back in 1994 when we took control of both houses and treated the Dems quite magnaminously. We must have had rocks in our heads, the democrats are unprincipaled snakes and should be treated as such. If we ever get control of both houses again and that's a BIG IF, we better remember what Reid and Pelosi have done to us.

Well put Jack. Dems are a bunch of snakes, liars and thieves. If the precedent they are setting with Burris can be followed, if we ever regain control, we can oust them all on the basis that we have the authority to decide who is seated in congress.

Cool Re: Democrats redo House rules, end GOP influence

The fights in congress have been with us since the founding our the two houses of clowns.

Now we see it in it's worse ever, and it can only drive our once great nation into the ground.

Somehow I can see the point that the folks in Minnesota (A state I once lived in till I grew tired of the huge taxes and moved west) in sending a comedian to the Senate, he should fit right in with the rest of the Democratic clowns. The only sad thing will be the loss of our freedoms to these who would lead.

True leadership died when the schools began their "everyone passes and everyone is a winner" programs removing all incentive to being a better student, a better leader, and a better American.

You will reap what you sew, and for the past thirty years we have been sewing fertilizer alone, and every farmer knows that only weeds grow if the seeds are not planted along with the fertilizer.

Pelosi Power Grab: Her Plan to Shackle the GOP
By: Jim Meyers, Newsmax

In a naked power grab for Democrats, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi has angered Republicans by pushing through a rule change to curb The GOP’s rights to affect legislation.

The rule change — approved on Tuesday, the first day of the 111th Congress — puts new restrictions on motions to “recommit” a bill to the committee that approved it in order to add new amendments.

Previously Republicans have used the rule to delay or kill legislation or to force Democrats to take politically difficult votes on such issues as gun control and illegal immigration, according to The Hill newspaper.

The new rule allows the full House to reconsider a bill without delay.

Can you imagine what the media would do if the GOP tried this?

Not quite clear on the concept, the story of RINO leadership. Real Republican's know that when you shake hands with the Jackass party, you automatically plug every orifice in your body.

RINO's are as useless as libs.....

Just what should you suspect?
The Demoncrats, Party of Evil, are establishing their absolute power base to make things difficult for anyone who does not support their evil agenda.
No support here for the Party from Hell. They make me sick even to look at them.
I can only pray that Conservative Republicans can wise up and regain leadership by 2010 or we are doomed to the repression of this bunch of colllective evil.

Why could Republicans not see this coming during the presidential primary elections. We couldn't agree on one leader. Now, I know this goes against our basic philosophy, we tend to be very independent in our beliefs that everyone should be heard. This is great until you are up against a party that is determined to get back into Washington, regardless of how they have to do it. They hung together and promoted basically one person. We saw it. He could do no wrong. We also saw how easy it was for the Hillary supporters to move right over to Obama. While so many of our fellow Republicans could never support McCain. I believe this is what defeated us. I was not a McCain supporter during the primaries, but I quickly realized I had to support any one of the Republican candidates because I was fearful of what we are now beginning to see. I wish I could be more optimistic about Republicans being able to get behind one candidate. We could do this in the past, but as Obama has shown us, it is a new world and we cannot trust any democrat running for president. Just as Clinton lied during his trial, Obama has lied many many time during his run for election. It is my belief that he will continue to do so. I'm very sorry that I cannot support my president, based on the fact that he lied to get elected. Can we find a person in our party that we can trust and respect? Can we as Republicans stick together and support one great leader from our ranks?
