Default Saunders: Eric Holder And All Political Prisoners

By Debra Saunders
January 6, 2009

Conventional wisdom last week decreed that President-elect Barack Obama had done such a fine job culling his Cabinet that only one pick -- Attorney General-nominee Eric Holder -- would present a problem, but most likely, a surmountable hurdle.

New Mexico Gov. Bill Richardson -- Obama's presumptive commerce secretary -- stepped on that happy tale when he withdrew his name from consideration Sunday in the midst of a federal corruption probe.

Back to Holder.

Or maybe Holder is the consummate political fixer.
And maybe Holder will go the way of Richardson. He certainly should. I can imagine nothing but extreme arrogance that would cause Obama to make such a tainted, in-your-face appointment. On the other hand, finding corruption-free Democrats to fill the Obama cabinet is a major accomplishment. Impossibility, maybe?

And maybe our new prez-elect is such a neophyte in politics, he has no idea of who any of these people are and is simply relying on his handlers to tell him who to pick. With Emanuel whispering in his ear, they are, of course, all Clinton retreads.

They'll probably even replace the lamps with ones identical to the ones Hillary threw at Bill's head.

Yeah, but sadly she missed. Hillary tries to bash Slick with a lamp, no story. Hack 'journalist' throws shoes at Bush and the SOB is deified.

I still believe that all these dirty little Democrat machinations will eventually blow up in their faces. May be wishful thinking, but there is such a thing as justice, and it comes to us all without exception.
