Default Lamb: The Republic: Dangling By A Thread

By Henry Lamb
December 22, 2008

Democracy is often described as two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner. Democracy is mob rule. Democracy collapses when the majority discovers it can vote for itself treasure from the public coffers. Democracy is the last plateau of social order before anarchy.

America's Founders knew this and chose not to create a democracy, and opted instead to create a federal republic. A cornerstone of this republic was the Senate, whose members were chosen by state legislatures to represent the states. Members of the House of Representatives were chosen by the people to represent the populace. This balance was destroyed on April 8, 1913, when the 17th Amendment was ratified, taking the election of senators away from state legislatures and submitting their election to the popular vote.

Our republic is truly dangling by a thread and guess who's about to take control in the white house that's reaching out with a pair of shears to cut it.

The public had better stay awake, because the unseen forces are trying to get the electoral college changed to popular vote, so the big ubran areas are wanting to rule. If the small states let this happen, we must as well seceed from the union, because we wont have a say in anything anymore.

Excellent points raised by Mr. Lamb as usual. We are already near the point of collapse for democracy because our elected officials have discovered that they can vote treasures for us out of the public coffers. The majority doesn’t have to do it for themselves, they just elect the ones who promise to do it for them. We are near the tipping point into anarchy and what will arise from the anarchy? Despotism? Communism? Fascism? Anything is possible with the incoming occupant of the White House.

I also agree the 17th Amendment in hindsight was a grave mistake, even though it might have sounded good at the time. Now the State as a whole has no way to protect itself from power grabs by the federal government since the Senators work for those who elected them, the voters, instead of the State. We pay for that by having the ever-expanding federal government usurping more and more of the states’ power and the states are pretty much helpless to do anything about it.

We are also near the imposition of mob rule as witnessed by the rabid, radical Al-Gayda and other liberal power groups using intimidation, terrorism, subterfuge, violence, and so on to impose their agenda on society when the public is against it, especially when they become violent and will stop at nothing until the public gives in to fear and gives them what they want even though they know it is wrong. This will be evident if states begin to give in to homosexual rights in order to avoid the chaos and bad publicity that Al-Gayda can bring to bear.

I think we're already there. Look at the numbers who voted for Obama vs those who voted for McCain. Obama was very much elected by a large urban (read poor, under educated) vote.

It's unfortunate that this column was published so near to Christmas. Because of that, it won't get nearly the attention it deserves. The truth in this article can't be repeated too frequently and should be published in every possible outlet.

Aside to Repeal 16-17: I have always agreed with you on 16 but hadn't "seen the light" on 17 until now. You're right there, too.

From this article from the Wall Street Journal the outlook for our USA gets down right gloomy. Real doom n' gloom stuff this:
Quote:
America 'Disintegrates' in 2010
In Moscow, Igor Panarin's Forecasts Are All the Rage; America 'Disintegrates' in 2010

MOSCOW -- For a decade, Russian academic Igor Panarin has been predicting the U.S. will fall apart in 2010. For most of that time, he admits, few took his argument -- that an economic and moral collapse will trigger a civil war and the eventual breakup of the U.S. -- very seriously. Now he's found an eager audience: Russian state media.

This is truly occuring, and the power of faction has been greatly increased of liberal left influence, within the democrat party. Their entire ability to secure, and maintain power in government, both state, and federal, lies in proportion, and desires of those proportions. An outgrowth of the various forms of legislation passed to solve societies difficulties, and its individual groups within our population. A definate form of arnachy, terrorism, meant to instill fear in voters to vote for the party which, without that party in power, fear they will lose the benefits sustaining their lives. This disabled man, myself, has seen the innerworkings of this bureaucracy, public attachments, and judicial powers authorizing their theft of the Republic for years. Have fought them all the way, and still fighting to live independently, while on the brink of losing my home. America is getting screwed, and nobody is standing up to them.
