Blankley: Daschle-Obama Health Care Possibilities
By Tony Blankley
November 26, 2008
As President-elect Obama's apparent choice for health and human services secretary and as White House health care czar, it is a fair guess that Tom Daschle's view on health care legislation may be decisive.
So it is worth reading his book "Critical: What We Can Do About the Health-Care Crisis," in which the gracious former Senate leader lays out without equivocation both the policy he recommends and the tactics for how to pass it.
He proposes setting up a board to establish standards for health care delivery in the United States that would be modeled on how the Federal Reserve Board and Securities and Exchange Commission oversee banks and corporations. Technically, it only would oversee the public health systems (Medicare, Medicaid, Veterans Health Administration, etc.), which provide about 32 percent of health care nationwide.

If the federal goverment can only do for health care what they have done for the banking / mortgage industries we'll all die from incompetance!

Here in Washington State we are one of the "lucky" ones. We just overwhelmingly pass the "Right to Die" initiative. With the Daschle-Obama Health care plan, the great nanny from the USA can decide if I'm worth keeping around. I know my family members will be reassured that I won't just lie around using up good money after a bad prognosis in some hospital bed.

Welcome to Marxicare; I'm sure that Barry Sotero, his family and his cronies will have excellent Medical care. The rest of us will have to take what we can get or die.

Don't you just know that this would not apply to anyone associated with the gov elitists. We are in for the worst ride of our life, if we can manage to survive.

“…standards for health care delivery in the United States…”
“…they can stay in business and deliver their services, but only as the government bureaucrats say they may.’
“…Political hacks appointed to the Health board will decide…’
“The public may want the drugs even if some Washington bureaucrat likes another drug instead.”
Puff Daschle at his best. 1. This screams rationed care so bHo and his cohorts will be able to "cull the herd" both ends and 2. You can bet your sweet ^%$ that Congress will exclude themselves from participation. And soooo many people just don't et it!

Re: Blankley: Daschle-Obama Health Care Possibilities
Oh, goody, goody, goody..insufficient and mandatory health care for all except, of course, those who will be enacting this "trash"! No choice, no "opt out" just suck it up and accept your fate.
My husband who asked for a chest exray as part of his annual physical where a small but early cancer was found, would probably have been doomed to wait for the subsequent CT scan, biopsy and PET scan he had before his partial pneumonectomy until his cancer had advanced to a stage where there would have been no choice but surgery plus radiation and chemotherapy. Guess he was lucky to have been diagnosed before this crappy proposal could be shoved into law. As it is, he may be missing a lobe of one lung but no other care (except the usual monitoring) will be required. I wonder if he will even be able to have the monitoring under these guidelines! He's alive, cancer free and returning to his preoperative vigorous self. His fate would have been a lot different under the "Daschle Disaster", but then the government would have been saved the cost of his social security, wouldn't they?
What else is new....libs can kill the old and eat (abort) the young. That will no doubt make them ecstatic!

This level of incremental deception politics is sickening. Of course no one can vote against the formation of a do-gooder panel and have their argument presented fairly in todays' bigoted media.
This is how the liberals incrementally took over our educational system ... boy that was a winner!!

Re: Blankley: Daschle-Obama Health Care Possibilities
The intent and the aggravation that is pervading the political scene is going to have horrendus consequence. There is the reality that will come with the stone hard fact that our leadership is operating in a fantasy land, that we canot continue to print money we do not have and that we cannot give away what we do not own, there is the distinct possibility that America the third world nation is not all that far away if we do not get back to economic basics, cut a large portion of this wilfull spending and put emphasis on the items that will regain our ability to produce and grow.
We need strong hard people to lead and not cave to the whining and the pandering of those looking to pad their own nest, these people are causing us to lose sight of why this country exist and how it became the worlds most prevalent force for freedoms. It is time to put them aside and make our way back to elements that are basic strengths, that fuel the future and not live in the past or the disneyland that the laggards want to create, our history is our beginning and it will be a base well into the future, we must not let the hope and the beauty of this country's ableness fail.

Re: Blankley: Daschle-Obama Health Care Possibilities
Too bad Daschle has not yet been a recipient of his proposed "health" care program. If he had experienced it we might not have to endure the rebirth of this washed-up socialist senator (lower case "s" intentional).
I have come to the conclusion if the general citizenery has dumped a politician, Obama will give them a job in Washington. Where's Mondale? More Obama garbage to suffer through.
