Default Towery: Will Obama Play In Georgia?

By Matt Towery
November 20, 2008

For president-elect Barack Obama, the time has arrived to make his first big decision. And no, it's not if Hillary will be in the cabinet.

Obama used every possible political trick in the book to both secure his nomination and then trounce John McCain in the general election. Who can blame him? Politics is a contact sport.

And for the last few weeks it appeared that Democrats were far enough away from their goal of a 60-member, filibuster-proof U.S. Senate that there would be nothing gained by the president-elect getting his hands dirty and actively campaigning in the only U.S. Senate runoff in the nation -- that of incumbent Republican Saxby Chambliss vs. Democratic challenger Jim Martin in Georgia. But now circumstances have altered the political landscape, and Obama must make a choice.

"...including that the president-elect might "lose political capital" if Martin goes down following an Obama visit."
Obama: it's always about what's good for meeeeee?

Chambliss is another example of a good man who got caught in misguided McCain's tangled coat-tails. With McCain out of the way, Chambliss should succeed on his own merits. His opponent has none.

I don't want Obama down here to "play"...I don't like his tactics...Clinton was here yesterday to do the deed, but he was at Clark University. Need I say more?

For all of you who like Mitt Romney...he will be here tomorrow - for 2 events - neither of which I can get too...

Have a great day!!

No risk, no reward. My bet is that he doesn't take the risk and Chambliss keeps his seat.
I sure hope he's right. We'll have a hard enough time if Chambliss wins with Rinos crossing the aisle. Without him, we'll have virtually no hope of holding the line on the worst of the Dem proposals.

He's a good listen you say? Well - maybe another time....I actually voted for him in the Primaries...

I realllly wanted to go - but the way things have been going at work there is just no way...I'm not to far from the ATL...but Savannah is 6 hours away.....he will be in both places....
I think he will do Saxby good too...

And you guys, be PROUD of me... I have started my door knocking for Saxby! You guys don't know this, but I have NEVER EVER done anything like this in my life. And I am very VERY shy around people I don't know...so I am so much out of my comfort zone doing this!!!
But...it is for our country and our beliefs!!
