I live in Illinois, just outside of Chicago. I live in the state that incubated the political career of Barack Obama and for that, as a resident of the State of Illinois and a conservative, I apologize. But this puts me in a unique position to afford you a glimpse of things to come for our nation should Barack Obama attain the Oval Office, and especially if Democrats maintain or increase their control in Congress. I present to the citizens of the United States the State of Illinois; a working model that illustrates the consequences of a government run by the Progressive-Left.

In 2003, five short years ago, the State of Illinois went blue; not light blue or royal blue but Daley Machine, Chicago Democrat, Progressive-Left cobalt blue. For decades our state existed in a symbiotic political state; the Daley Machine Chicago Democrats controlling Cook County and most of the lesser "urban areas" and the Illinois GOP holding sway in the collar counties and rural areas.

Sounds a lot like the State of California under Democratic leadership. Los Angeles will probably turn as corrupt as Chicago in the not-to-distant future too. I'd just like to take these articles to the streets for the "average" American with the broken soul to read and digest before Tuesday...we are headed for a world of hurt with Obama and the Democratic controlled Congress. Does no one remember Jimmy Carter?????

Hi Mary, I remember Jimmy Carter well but so many of the things I lived through and remember are lost to younger people.

It hasn't been taught in school or at home and they aren't much interested in learning about it. Maybe that will change if indeed the worst happens next week.

It will mean if you don't support obama, you can't have a seat on his plane. You think the ruler is going to stop all coverage of him.You have just seen what the osama w.h.is going to be like. I guess no news is good news.

This may sound like a silly question but something to consider.

Is Chicago being a "nuclear free zone" going to keep a nuclear warhead from melting it down?

A nuclear warhead melting down Chicago would actually solve a lot of problems for the rest of the country.

Of course, no enemy which has such capability would dare melt down Chicago and remove so many of their allies from the equation.

Along with the "send Obama back to Chicago" type posts, though I can't say I blame you. The man belongs in jail right along with Rezko (house arrest, actually, but SHOULD be jail).

I'm amazed to hear all the Obama supporters count their eggs before they hatch. We all need to make sure we get out all votes to stop this common crook, I'm doing things like getting my kids, who are away at college to send in their absentee ballots, talking to my neighbors in N. Va. and fighting with my fellow Black co workers. It dawned on me that everyone do not know Obama like we(conservatives) do, and a lot of Blacks do not care to know, all they are seeing is the color of his skin. Now, I'm Black and so ashamed of the ignorance in this community. I'm hopeful that many Black Republicans and democrats that know the crook, will rally votes. I 'm seeing many people that fear what this guy will do to the country and doing what Americans do when threatened....thats to fight, fight the revenge Obama is planning for the country. With all the data coming out, Obama is deflecting by saying "the American people don't want to hear that"...well, he's wrong. We cannot allow this crook to take from one group of people and give to other groups that didn't earn it. If you listen to him, every thing he talks about is taking, taking from businesses, taking from the rich, take, take, take, he has to be stopped.

Hey Tom Day, again, I love your attitude. Thanks for your inputs and efforts.

We must stand together, fight for our country.

What is ahead is not what we want for our children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren -- a place and country where a private citizen, Joe the plumber, gets attacked by a POTUS and VP candidate.... which is terribly similar to Cuba, N. Korea, China, Russia, the former USSR and Nazi Germany.

God bless McCain-Palin ticket, America, and each of us !

As Election Day 2008 approaches with the prospect of a Democrat in the White House and Democratic control of the Congress, only one-third (34%) of U.S. voters think rule by one political party is better for the country.

Let's hope this attitude spreads rapidly ! Pass it arouind.

I have a "chicken or the egg" question........

The MSM had been saying a few weeks ago that McCain's low poll ratings were a reflection of the economy and the market. But what I see is that as McCain's #s go up, so goes the market.

So, could it be that the reduced spending and the reaction of the stock market could have been exacerbated by fear that BO could become POTUS? Or is the improved stock market helping McCain's #s?

Now that McCain has closed the gap in the polls, the market has regained about 11%.

Does the election move the market, or does the market move the election?
