House Democrats unveil draft climate change bill

WASHINGTON (AP) -- With the presidential election less than a month away and the economy reeling, House Democratic leaders on Tuesday unveiled a proposal to reduce the gases blamed for global warming from power plants, transportation and factories by 80 percent come 2050.

The draft legislation, which will be refined in coming months for introduction next year, would begin slowly, capping emissions of heat-trapping gases released by transportation and power plants first, then moving to other sectors of the economy. The money earned from auctioning off some of the permits would be redirected to energy efficiency and clean technologies. In later years, all permits would be sold with the proceeds going back to the taxpayer, unless Congress reauthorizes the bill.

I wonder if any one in Washington has the gutas to stand up to this bill it is nothing but a new tax that we will pay forever and no chance it will be rescinded . Al Gore is alive and well in the house he was there when he took office and he is still the president of the democrats . has any one the courage to do nothing?

Australia is an island and might be large enough.

The Dems sure are confident that they are going to win both the Presidency AND more control of Congress. Well, once they've run the country's economy in the tank with environmental crap like they did in California, who will Arnie borrow money from to save his state next year when they have another budget shortfall? And then, who will the new President borrow money from to save this COUNTRY?
