Critics of Senator Barack Obama make a strategic mistake when they talk about his "past associations." That just gives his many defenders in the media an opportunity to counter-attack against "guilt by association."

We all have associations, whether at the office, in our neighborhood or in various recreational activities. Most of us neither know nor care what our associates believe or say about politics.

Associations are very different from alliances. Allies are not just people who happen to be where you are or who happen to be doing the same things you do. You choose allies deliberately for a reason. The kind of allies you choose says something about you.

There is no such thing as "the real obama". He is a phony!

Why much of the public and the media have been so mesmerized by the words and the image of Obama, and so little interested in learning about the factual reality, was perhaps best explained by an official of the Democratic Party: "People don't come to Obama for what he's done, they come because of what they hope he can be."

Ya know, at my age you think you have seen about everything, but this Obama phenomenon is blowing my mind. I guess Dr. Sowell is right:"People don't come to Obama for what he's done, they come because of what they hope he can be."

Hope in an empty vessel is insanity! Is this what America has come to?

The razzel dazzel routine Obama performs in front of an audience has fooled many.

And his personality, physical attributes, and oratory skills have thrown up a smoke screen that covers his real agenda.

The test comes when the "show" is over and the glitter, glamor, has vanished.

What's left? Where's the promises? Where's the answers? Where's Obama? Why are we sinking?

Where's my money? My home, my car, my freedom? Where's Obama? Where's my health care plan? Why am I in debt? Where am I?

While it may not be the most important issue in the campaign, Obama's past associations with America-hating radicals is important. After watching a recent TV special on radicals, it was frightening to me that not only Bill Ayers was counted among the people that Obama knows but who Ayers associates with, i.e. Castro and Hugo Chavez. Then there is Farakam, Rev. Wright, Father Phleger and a past associate from the PLO. I'm sure Obama has other colorful "friends" in his background but to date, they have not been mentioned to us. For those of us who lived through the 60's and 70's, we remember these radicals. I've wondered who was pulling Obama's strings. My first thought was the Democrats but after hearing this story, I think it goes deeper which will bring the counry to socialism. As I heard yesterday, we will be getting very close to France and other European countries in our government philosophies if Obama is elected. This scares me as I am getting too old to change. I want my FREEDOM!

Dr. Sowell is dead on as usual.
Hopefully the message of this article will reach the McCain camp and the Obama guilt by allegiance and allies will come out.
As far as this worship of Obama, when I occasionally catch a film clip of "The Chosen One " Granting an audience with the masses, aka campaign speech, I'm reminded of the old B movie "The Night of the Living Dead."
I see a bunch of Zombies all jazzed up on crystal meth. What happened to the spirit, mentality, values and common sense we were given by "The Greatest Generation?"

Dr. Sowell has made a great distinction. Barak is not just associated with these people, Barak and these people are allies, allies that will provide money and services to back Barak's agenda. Why would they do that? BECAUSE they are all in the same boat wanting socialism so they can control this Country. BECAUSE they are all inthe same boat, knowing the loop-holes in laws, knowing how to use affirmative action against whites as well as others (no one is ever black enough OR white enough for these people), they cover up the truth, that is their allegiance, not The USA.
McCain will get about nine questions tonight, he should answer like this.
1) Michelle has said recently that she is finally proud of the USA, I have been proud all my life.....
2) The economy sucks, Barak and Ayers had a multi-million dollar education project in Chicago that went bankrupt, I AM NOT DOING THAT.

He needs to 'associate' every question to Barak's failures.

3) If I get a 3:00 AM call I won't answer 'Present' and go back to sleep.

OHHHHHHHHH I have had enough! McCain had better get it together tonight - I hope Sarah prompts him and tazers his ass if he just stands there and says the status quo.

hope McCain reads this article and takes it to heart!
"His escapes from his past have been as remarkable as the great escapes of Houdini." Obama's past has escaped scrutiny because of purposeful neglect by the main stream media and the rattle of the "R" saber at the slightest provocation. McCain, this is your last chance to go for the gold, you had better come out swinging! Otherwise you'll be a Dukakas or a Stevenson, one of those names relegated to the dustbin of history.

Every time I see a article by Mr. Sowell I read it he is one iof the few true journalist left . I would like to add something all have missed or did not think was important to the black people of this great country. If Obama is elected he will mess things up so bad that a black person could not get elected for the next 60 years , It actually would be beneficial for the black race for him to lose . NOw if someone of Mr. Sowell's character was running he would have3 mny vote in a heart beat. I am a 65 year old white male . I mean that from the bottom of mty thinking .
