Default Toxic Beverly Hills

By Brent Bozell
September 8, 2008

For months, the CW network has been pushing its reworking of the old teen soap "Beverly Hills 90210." When it finally debuted, Entertainment Weekly magazine joked: "'90210' is the Sarah Palin of TV shows -- it's new, it's pretty, few people have seen it in advance ... and its main purpose is to remind you of a trusty old product while adding some new vigor and soap opera to the cultural discourse."

Put aside that nasty insult aimed at the new star on the political scene. It's the "new vigor" phrase that's salient. The lame, recycled "90210" opened with -- an oral sex scene.

Quote:

CW knows no bounds in creating "bigger buzz," and will stop at nothing to get children to watch its smut. They marketed this '90210' debut with the shocking sex plot by using BusRadio -- a service that broadcasts audio exclusively into school buses populated with children as young as 6. The BusRadio website aggressively boosted the debut, complete with video clips touting the show: "Get ready for the two-hour event everyone will be talking about."
One critic of the relatively new bus service struck the obvious note: "BusRadio sells itself to school districts as an age-appropriate alternative to FM radio, but once again they've demonstrated that they don't know or don't care what age-appropriate means."

And we, the 86% christain population, keep letting this happen. Most television programming is now "age inapropriate" and not fit for anything but airing on a porn site.

No wonder we have children having children. We teach them everything they need to know about every immoral and dangerous activity except responsibility.

I was about to post the same quote Yogi, but it would be the proverbial "coals to Newcastle". What many viewers do not do in any large number is complain to the sponsors of tv shows they find offensive. Shows like this can only survive on advertising revenue..........the pen is truly mightier than the sword and that pen needs to be wielded by everyone who finds such programming offensive. Freedom of speech (or expression) ends at the point of your children's noses!

I did not watch the first episode of '90210' and do not intend to watch any of it, but I kind of knew that the new '90210' had to be 'edgy' in order to attract audience.

There is only one CW show that I watch. Other than that, I do not even watch their news, which is just like any other liberal MSM.

There was a new show, which too shall remain nameless, on a different network that was very 'edgy.' The moment I found out what kind of 'edgy' stuff it was, I never watched it again.

i've never seen 90210 and don't intend to, but does anyone know if there is there a website to learn who the sponsors of such trash are? I would write letters to them telling them I am boycotting their products until they quit supporting these kinds of programs.

"So clearly, someone, a higher up at the CW, whoever it may have been, decided at the last minute that they needed to inject some sex into the show to make it more like 'Gossip Girl,' to create a bigger buzz."

Evil abounds with selling of the souls. This is hard to believe anything like that would be on TV during school children hours.
The Shadow : "Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men? The Shadow knows!" is the absolute truth.
The Whistler "I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, many secrets hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. Yes, I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak."

I suggested to Jim Quinn of "The War Room with Quinn and Rose" that he suggest some retired folks take bus driving jobs and have their radios tuned to their show in the morning (XM-158 and a few dozen terrestrial stations). He emailed back that there already were a number of them. Now THERE the kids would learn some reality. If you've never heard the show, he's as pointed as Savage and funny as Limbaugh.

I don't watch CW network here in OHIO. I must be "sheltered".
