McCain says he will include Democrats in Cabinet
McCain says he will include Democrats in Cabinet - By Jason Szep
ALBUQUERQUE, New Mexico (Reuters) - Republican nominee John McCain said in an interview aired on Sunday he would bring Democrats into his Cabinet and administration as part of his attempt to change the political atmosphere in Washington.
"I don't know how many, but I can tell you, with all due respect to previous administrations, it is not going to be a single, 'Well, we have a Democrat now,"' McCain said on CBS' "Face the Nation."
"It's going to be the best people in America, the smartest people in America," he said in an interview taped on Saturday.

*OK, I'm not close-minded, but considering that the Democrat Party and the radical far left are one and the same, does anybody think this will work?

A very bad idea, George Bush gave positions to Dems, such as Kennedy; He did not get better treatment.

I don't know how McCain is spinning this to himself, but President Bush left plenty of Democrats in. There was Norman Minetta in his cabinet and the heads of the FBI and CIA left over from the Clinton administratioin. I venture to say that a lot of State's people were left from the Clintons also.
Be careful what you go after, John. You might just get it.................. ... in spades.

McCain pledges to appoint Democrats to Cabinet
By AP STAFF
Associated Press
September 8, 2008
WASHINGTON (AP) -- Republican John McCain pledged if elected president to appoint Democrats to his Cabinet, saying there's nothing partisan about tackling the nation's toughest problems.
"I don't know how many, but I can tell you, with all due respect to previous administrations, it is not going to be a single ... 'Well we have a Democrat now.' It's going to be the best people in America," the GOP presidential nominee told CBS' "Face the Nation," in an interview taped Saturday that will be broadcast in full Sunday.
"So many of these problems we face -- for example, energy independence, what's partisan about that?" he said. "And I'll tell you, some of them, I'll ask to work for a dollar a year."

Re: McCain says he will include Democrats in Cabinet
Is this kind of like, 'Keep your enemies close?' Or, is it just solid stupidity?

It's solid RINO ism.
What was stupid for sure was the comment, "what's partisan about that?" Liberals are partisan about everything!!! How out of touch is he?

Re: McCain says he will include Democrats in Cabinet
My guess is that he's strengthening the "Maverick who bucks his party" message. The selection of Sarah Palin sent a solid message to the conservative base that he is with them. Now with a stable foundation, he can reach out to independent voters with this message of independence and Country First. Conservatives will reason, as Ande did above, that it's better than having all Democrats, and independents will expect the best of both parties to participate in the administration.
So are the two messages are compatible and he is able to pick up voters in both groups, or do the messages cancel each other out and he loses out overall? The people who do this for a living are pretty sharp, so the McCain-Palin ticket will probably see a net gain.

Re: McCain says he will include Democrats in Cabinet
McCain needs to start counting the stab wounds in GWB's back before going through with appointing Democrats to his administration.
Besides, there doesn't appear to be any qualified Dems in the first place.
Republicans have extended their hands across the aisle over the years. All that happens is..... they get bloodied up to their shoulders.
