Default Cindy McCain praises husband as leader, father

By ANDREW DeMILLO
Associated Press
September 5, 2008

ST. PAUL, Minn. (AP) -- Cindy McCain praised her husband at the Republican National Convention in an speech that hailed him as a straight talker and a father who by example has passed on his love of country and values to his children.

"He has shown the value of self-sacrifice by daily example and, above all John showers us with the unconditional love and support every family dreams of. I know what his children say of him," Cindy McCain said in a prime-time address Thursday night. "And his courageous service to America in war and peace leaves no doubt what our forefathers would make of him."

McCain was the warm-up act for her husband, John, who was ready to come to the floor and accept his party's presidential nomination. Cindy McCain is chairwoman of Hensley & Co., her family's business.

She said more could be done by private citizens "if only the federal government would get itself under control and out of our way."

"Under control and out of our way?"

Never goin' to happen. Too many people want the government to take care of them. We have passed the "turnaround" point of fixing the government in the short term. Only adversity and time will instigate change. Sadly, this is how lessons are learned by most.

I really liked her speech though.

Thumbs up Re: Cindy McCain praises husband as leader, father

She is such a gracious lady, and I loved her speech. She is a good mother too, and not only has been there for them, but many people around the globe who needed help. Both candidates have nice big famlies, and they all seem to be real happy.Only people like them and other mothers and fathers who raise their children right seem to be head and shoulders over some of the people I know in this country. My greatest hope is for their election to the office they seek, and we will be better off for it.
